Mars

Mars was one of the first places for a human colony in the solar system, and once the first permanent settlement had been established on the planet, the population grew fast.
Between 2200 and 2300, the planet had reached a population of 500.000 and most of the industry focused around the Earth navy had been moved to Mars with three primary purposes, the first being to clear up orbits around Earth and the second were to decrease the pollution of the Earths atmosphere while increasing the co2 and other greenhouse gasses in Mars atmosphere as a step in the long process of terraforming the planet. the last reason was that the lower gravity of Mars meant that heavy production on the surface of the world would be easier than back on Earth.

Economy

The Martian economy is centred around heavy industry. Most of its population works either in the Navy or support branches, with the rest working to support the rest.
the largest military complex Olympia military complex is located near Olympus Mons.
Mars also produces a brand of Whiskey that, due to the planet's connection with the military, has become widespread, particularly in the Navy, with many officers having at least one bottle in their quarters.

Culture

Mars holds its own Olympics; this event takes place two years after the one on Earth but is very similar to the original.
Sportsfolk from Mars also maintains a noticeable presence in the Solar Olympics, where they usually win many of the throwing competitions.

Tourism

A visitor centre has been built around many of the original rover sights, and people can take tours along some of the routes they have travelled. Still, one rover and its route have gained almost pilgrimage status, it is the final resting place of the rover Opportunity, and many will walk the route the rover drove during its time on the planet.
