EES Eiland

EES Eiland was a destroyer in the navy of the Inspiration-class. The ship was stationed along the border of Earth controlled space in the sector towards the galactic centre.

Design and construction

EES Eiland being an early model of the Inspiration class meant that she would not have the same modifications done to the class as some of the following models would. She was commissioned into the navy in 2434 and sent to serve in the provincial unit stationed on the planet of Flevoland 

Operational history

The ship was, along with four other ships, temporarily stationed monitoring a solar system where miners were setting up operations to mine the core of a cracked planet when The Fersian United Commonwealth conducted a raid into the system believing the system to be undefended, after a short skirmish that ended with four Earth navy ships destroyed and EES Eiland badly damaged during the fight and believed to have crashed on an asteroid after the steering of the ship had been disabled which had left the ship spinning out of control.
The crew of Eiland managed to fix the damage done to their ship. After discussing how to leave the system possibly undetected, the ship's captain came up with the idea of using the asteroid they were currently on as their escape method. The crew went about building a layer of rock around the ship. After several days, the ship would, at a distance could pass as an asteroid, so when the enemy ships were the furthest from their position, the ship used its thrusters to lift off the asteroid and slowly drift into space and every time the enemy ships were further away or hidden behind the sun or planets the ship would fire its thrusters a bit and over a week would fly a distance that allowed them to engage their FTL and leave the system, reporting back what had happened.

Decommissioning

The EES Eiland would be removed from the Navy list in 2446 and used as a training ship for the Navy cadets.

Weapons & Armament

The Inspiration class destroyers have two forward-facing canons along with 4 torpedo tubes making them excellently suited for wolfpack tactics and swarm tactics.
Some models of the Inspiration class will be equipped with several Eres CIWS , making them ideal for missile defence but also escort missions as it was seen as better to fire a few rounds of CIWS into the enemy, making them stop than a missile that might blow up the target instead.

Armor and defense

The armour of the ship follows the standard of the class with it being thin and following the philosophy of "Trading armour for speed"
