The Divine Monarchy

The Divine Monarchy is a pantheon of Gods worshipped primarily by humanity in Solace, called a monarchy because of the structure within the rule of its 5 major deities. The mythos states that the Monarchy is originally from the Upper Heavens, and descended to Lower Heaven to aid humanity in their time of need and abandonment by The Old Gods. The Lord of the Sun is positioned as the monarch, with all others in subservient positions; The Lady of Light is his wife, and The Lord of the Moon and The Grim Maiden of Dusk and Dawn are their children, while The Queen of the Night has married into the family from Upper Heaven. The Lords sit upon the Heavenly thrones of the Sun and the Moon respectively, while The Grim Maiden rests upon the earth as a specter, ushering souls to their final resting places.
While not much has been told to humanity about Upper Heaven, Lower heaven is said to be an unmatched paradise for mortals who dedicate their lives to worship, and by all accounts of those who have been to the afterlife and back again, this claim is true. It is ruled over magnanimously by the royal family, and while it is predominantly Human, any who rejoice in the name of the Lord and lead righteous lives of devotion can be accepted into the holy kingdom. Those who are not permitted into Lower Heaven for any reason are said to be sent to The Hells, which are controlled by an ancient Devil known by 10,000 names, and who constantly tempts the hearts of mortals to give them worldly pleasures in exchange for their souls. It has been asserted by some holy texts that the ultimate goal of The Devil is to open a portal to the Material Plane and consume all of the souls present there, but this was thoroughly debunked by Demonologists who claimed that such a plan would permanently destroy the Devil's only reliable source of new souls and ultimately be self-defeating.
