Roshan & Ragar, The Divine Steeds

In Human mythology, Roshan (Banpouri:"light") and Ragar (Banpouri:"Rampage" or "Rager") are a pair of horses that gifted to Banpour the Hero by The Lord of the Sun, and brought power and prosperity to his rebellion. Tales of them vary, but most accounts attest that the steeds were ridden into battle, pulling a chariot for him. Other accounts say that the steeds were metaphors for a welspring of life, allowing Banpour to maintain the powerful horses that are still ridden by the Savaarsena to this day, that they were large birds rather than horses, and that both were female rather than one horse of each sex.   Examples of artifacts that may depict Banpour with his steeds include rebellion era paintings, decorative chest plates used by early church officials, graphic brooches and cameos, and portions of degraded tapestries. Roshan and Ragar's role as Banpour's steeds and guides has been linked to shamanic practices of the Tizac Desert dwelling tribes, the Nozima Twin Grackle banner, general corvid symbolism within the House of Night, and the concepts of the fortune teller and the guardian angel.
