Infinite Grave

History

Infinite Grave, or simply The Grave, is a former Human settlement located in Tellum County. Prior to the final battle of the Dragon Wars, the area was fertile and hospitable. After the cataclysm caused by the Cursed Time Generator, it became a cracked and twisted wasteland covered with jagged cliffs and plagued by an endless haze of toxic fumes. It is now inhabited by horrific monsters and revenant spirits trapped in a violent time loop that recreates the events of the battle. The gravity of the area is unstable, which makes it dangerous for Airships to stay there for very long.
Due to the resistance led by The Mother of Earth and her liberated Human faithful, the powers that be within Aleuzlatu, Kell Karin, and Wildwood Boneyard were long unable to colonize the area. During this final battle, The Mother of Earth fell under the heat of dragon fire, and the Cursed Time Generator was deployed in an effort to bring her back to life. All forces involved were decimated, and while the exact cause of the cataclysm is unknown, it was later stated that nobody knew the magnitude of what they had unleashed. The events of this battle caused ripples over all of what is known today as Tellum County, and is the source of the mother's death curse, which makes it impossible for non-humans to consume water & food grown in Tellum County within its borders.

Culture

Infinite grave is sometimes explored by enterprising adventurers or historians accompanied by mercenary outfits, hoping to uncover ancient artifacts for wealth or knowledge, but most often its horrors are battled by the people of Bitterville as they migrate south. There are no known permanent residents of Infinite Grave, but there are some who enter regularly and return to tell the tale.

Politics

The curse upon the land has shaped Tellum County in several ways politically. While the Council Nations abandoned the Peace Accords after The Tragedy of Mamlakat Hadan, Tellum County still abides by them to this day, seeing firsthand the destruction that is caused by war. As a result, they attempt to remain neutral in terms of trade, and do not participate in armed conflicts outside of their own borders. While a portion of the population must remain militarized to combat the domestic threat of The Grave, most restrict themselves to simple weapons for hunting or sport.
