Sojournus A place of adventure, rest, magic, and mystery...

Long, long ago, there were three Wellsprings of pure magic. These wellsprings radiated with such energy that they could sustain life within their orbits. In fact, they were so powerful that their energy could even flare away from their own orbit, sometimes interacting with each other to form smaller magical realms. Over centuries, the magic energies of the three wellsprings were brought together into a confluence unlike anything ever imagined before. From the raw power that coalesced, Sojournus was born.   The first peoples of Sojournus were meant to be avatars or pets of the Wellspring beings. These were the Aasimar, born of the Divine, Elves, born of the Fey, and the Githyanki, born of the Arcane (all named in 5e terms.) These three races were the first that learned of the magic that permeates the world. They learned that most people are capable of utilizing powers in some form or another. Perhaps it was magic that allowed them to progress into civilizations so quickly. Maybe that same magic is what caused those nations to fall. We know there was a sort of massive war that drove out the Githyanki altogether. All three races seemingly retreated and allowed themselves to be overcome by the Myst, fading into the shadows. Elves and Aasimar faded into obscurity, a relatively minor race amongst the many others.   Humans came into being much later, but none know for certain of their origins. Many scholars claim them to be soulless elves or other sorts of half-breed. In truth, they are the first creatures born from the magic of Sojournus, in the same way the other species are born from the magic of their Wellspring. Humans are the first sign that Sojournus is slowly becoming a wellspring in it's own right.   But then came the first coalescence. Something magical fell out of the sky on a cold night, and a blacksmith- Vale Exalta, discovered it. What the fallen star truly was, or what Exalta found in it, is completely unknown. But he had gained a great charismatic power, and many people began to follow him. Some believe he found an amulet that could bend the will of others. He became the first High King, laying claim to what is now the kingdom of Bayutat.   Time went on for hundreds of years, and nations grew. They utilized the power of these coalescences to their advantage, to the point where the structure of every government has magic involved in some form. They became reliant on it, even if the general citizen was not. Times are changing. Technology is growing, and the lives of everyone on Sojournus are about to change forever...   Tullius Khepresh, who turned the Kingdom of Dimorphos into the Empire of Dimorphos, has waged war on nearly all of Hestaeus. The man, born of Bayutatan descent, has united his Dimorphan people in a bid for ultimate power, and has struck Hestaeus by surprise with his might. It is in this moment that we find our parties, struggling amongst a world full of darkness.
