Within the world of Sojournus, there is the land of Hestaeus. Hestaeus is a place of manyt peoples, and has a long and near forgotten history. Long ago, the southern region, Bayutat, was a lush and green pasture from east to west. But the peoples of Bayutat angered the Celestials with their foul attempts to become like them. In the process, they became snakelike and twisted, and they unleashed the wrath of Nero, the lord of punishment and death. Nero desicated the land, turning it barren and uninhabitable, aside from a few oases and the land near the Hapi river. The peoples of Bayutat were able to supress the celestial's onslaught, but no one truly knows how. Most believe he simply stopped and moved on. Hestaeus was also a major player in the Wellspring Wars, when the Celestial Realm and Feywild had to band together to destroy otherworldly entities spilling out of, or in through, the Astral plane. The war was the cause of death of the original lord of war among others. Thousands of people in the Hestaeus region were recruited and boarded Spelljammers to join the fight. Supposedly, the Pyramidion was turned into a weapon of some sort to put a hole in the enemy's offensive, which allowed the war to be brought to a halt.
