Gifted
The Gifted are humans who have a supernatural Gift, as well as the ability to share that Gift with others under certain circumstances.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
The Gifted are very rare - the Gift is passed down the bloodline, but not every child of a Gifted will inherit their parents Gift. It is not unusual for no children to inherit the Gift, though these non-Gifted children are slightly more likely to have a Gifted child if they have children with either a Gifted, or someone who is also the child of a Gifted.
Every so often, Gifts will seem to suddenly manifest in a human child, with seemingly no connection to a known Gifted family. This, however, only happens when two parents with the carrier gene have a child.
The child will also not necessarily inherit the Gift of their Gifted parent, particularly if they are from a long line of folks who have had children with other Gifted, Shifters, or humans.
However, having children solely with Gifted with the same Gift decreases the likelihood of passing on the Gift, and it is strongly discouraged.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
The Gifted are able to share their powers with Shifters and vampires, though under differing circumstances.
Shifters
For each Gifted, there is a particular Shifter out there with whom they have a fated Bond with. The local Oracle will identify these pairs and ensure they are matched to each other, the Shifter taking the role of Guardian over the Gifted. While this has largely been forgotten by the Covenant, this bond between the Gifted and Shifter, when properly developed, allows for an empathic and telepathic link, as well sharing of the Gifted's power and Shifter's strength and durability.Vampires
When a vampire feeds directly from a Gifted, this can create a similar, though artificial, bond between vampire and gifted. It allows for a similar empathic bond and power sharing, but also creates an addictive link between vampire and Gifted, with the Gifted going into withdrawal if they are not regularly bitten by their particular vampire. Research done by the Corporation has allowed the vampires to circumvent both the bond and the addiction by developing processes to preserve the Gifted's power in their blood when taken via needle rather than directly from the vein.
