The Nether
The Nether is where the power of the Spirit of the Depths primarily manifests. It is a land of earth and fire, where only the toughest plants and animals may survive. Structured as massive underground chasms, it contains a few resources unique to its conditions, including the ever-coveted ancient debris.
Geography
The geography of the Nether consists mostly of large underground caverns with smaller branching caves and ravines. rather than water oceans, the Nether has oceans of lava, as well as falls of lava pouring from the ceiling. Many alcoves hang over the lava seas, precarious drops to the unaware travelers.
The Nether mainly consists of five biomes, the Nether Wastes, the Crimson Forest, the Soul Sand Valley, the Basalt Delta, and the Warped Forest.
The Nether Wastes are the most barren of the biomes. Consisting of nearly nothing but netherrack, few creatures inhabit this biome. Only mineral resources are available here.
The Crimson Forest is the Nether's main hub of life. Crimson nylium covers the ground, with sprouts and fungi growing from it. Rather than trees, enormous crimson fungi grow. Their stems are woody and can be used in many of the same ways as regular wood.
The Soul Sand Valley is another bleak biome. The ground is made up of a mix between soul sand and soul soil. Strangely cool for the Nether, the lava falls here have cooled into thin basalt columns. Fragmentary ancient fossils dot the landscape, poking out of the sand, yet giving no clue of what creature they once belonged to. Bright blue soul fire dots the landscape, adding a bright color to the drab biome.
The Basalt Delta, in contrast to the Soul Sand Valley, is one of the most volcanically active biomes in the nether. Consisting almost entirely of basalt columns, lava, magma, and blackstone, this biome is a tough place to navigate.
The Warped Forest is the most mysterious biome in the Nether. It is the strange, cyan counterpart to the crimson forest, identical in almost every way, save for its lack of animal life. Adventurers widely consider it the safest of the Nether biomes to build a base in, as only the mysterious endermen seem to call it home.
Ecosystem
Nearly every creature found naturally in the Nether is fireproof. The only ones that aren't are believed to be descended from migrants from the Overworld. As a result, the creatures of the Nether can be sorted into a few categories: Native, Non-Native, and Undead.
The Native creatures to the Nether are Magma Cubes, Ghasts, Striders, Nether Bats, Nightmares, Hellhounds...
The Non-Native creatures of the Nether are Piglins, Hoglins, and Endermen
The Undead creatures found in the Nether are Skeletons, Zombified Piglins, and Wither Skeletons.

Localized Phenomena
In the Nether, water can only exist as a vapor outside of containers. It is believed that the plantlife in the Nether gathers water by absorbing it from the air. Lava also flows faster due to the hot environment.
Wither Skeletons only occur in the Nether, and most frequently in Nether Fortresses. They appear similar to human skeletons, but have a slightly larger size. Their relation to the standard skeletons found in the nether is unknown.
The Nether seems to be somewhat spatially compressed in relation to the Overworld. When using Nether Portals, one block traveled in the Nether is equivalent to eight blocks traveled in the Overworld. This makes the Nether a hub for travel for those willing to risk braving the risky bridges hastily set up since the Great Cataclysm.
