Gold Squad

The third squad of the Roughnecks, Gold squad is a regular outfit, as with any other infantry squad, with one difference. When the platoon were resupplying at Sanctuary, an administrative error meant that one squads equipment was not from new Federal stockpiles but was actually from an Imperial supply transport destined for an Adeptus Mechanicus Machine-Reliquary where the equipment would be stored for reuse in a prophesised dark time. As the third squad, Gold squad were the recipients of these supplies, including older marks of Lasgun, a trailer mounted Lascannon and older marks of Flak Armour. All of the equipment is as fully functional, practical and effective as the newer versions of equipment, they just look different and have resulted Gold squad being the butt of many jokes and earned them the nickname Goldie Oldies. However, Gold Squad take it in their stride and, much to the Enginseers' delight, consider it an honour to have such equipment and even spend more care and attention on it during Care & Maintenance sessions.
