Now You See Me...
Focusing around the manipulation of others, Illusion is an extremely diverse magic that extends far past the manipulation of one's senses. An illusion mage can not only create sights to distract, but they can amplify or reduce the pain of attacks, ease the emotional pain of others, turn opponents against one another, and much, much more.
Illusion Sub-types
Any Illusion mage can fall down a different path than another. However, everyone starts off in the same place, manipulating the senses of others. Generally, an Illusion mage starts with one sense, and then builds out from there. Illusion can also eventually move to effecting the emotional state of others, allowing for one to make others more inclined to listen to them, ease fears and worries, empower and raise allies, and far more. Those who are masters of the craft can even disconnect people from their emotions entirely, or connect two people emotionally.
Sensus
Sensus Illusion is what most people think of when thinking about the magic. This is the art of manipulating ones sense of smell, touch, hearing, taste, scent, or spirit. This can do a large variety of things. Manipulating one's sense of spirit will prevent them from noticing magical auras or, create false magical effects on the person to confuse and bewilder them. Some support Illusion Mages can dullen the pain of incoming attacks so their allies can fight through it, or amplify the pain of enemies, crippling them beneath it. Newcomers to the magic only begin with one sense, but can expand over time. Master over all six is rarely seen or needed to be powerful.
Ampis
Many wilderness survivors have learned to use this magic without ever learning Sensus. Building off the idea of dulling or amplifying pain, Ampis Illusion is all about the amplification or dulling of other senses. This can make one hypersensitive to sounds, sights, and smells; make an enemy unaware of their surroundings, and so on. Ampis is really just an expansion of Sensus, but is also considered its own path since one does not quite need to know Sensus to play with Ampis.
Emotim
The ability to manipulate the emotions of others is a pretty adept ability that opens a whole new vein of options. Emotim Illusion is the ability to manipulate the mental state of others, ease their fears, bolster their resolve-... or do just the opposite- make them turn on their allies, become irrationally terrified, and so forth. Its a simple concept with a bottomless well of abilities and uses.
Dis/Connect
Connect Illusion is the Master branch of the magic, allowing one to link the emotions and minds of two people so that they can commune over long distances, or offer peace of mind, tranquility, or share madness. Disconnect Illusion is the ability to sever one's connection with their emotions, turning one into a psychopath and opening their mind to more logical routes while cutting away their earthly connections to others. However, this ability does have a side effect where, the longer one remains separated from their emotions, the more catastrophic regaining them will be as all the emotions and feelings that were locked away come rushing back at once. There has been more than one account where an Illusion mage has taken their own life or died of a heart attack due to returning their emotions after too long without them.
