Healing

From Soul, Life. From Life, Death. From Death, Soul.

While the name of Healing magic may imply otherwise, this tree of magic has so much more to offer than simply mending wounds. However, it is the most frequent use of this magic. No, the Healing magics revolve, not just around mending wounds, but the manipulation of souls and soul energies. Using your own energy to accelerate the body's natural healing speed. Using another's soul energies to power devices and spells. Using Soul reminant to raise their corpse under your will. With enough time and effort, the best healers can fall down a path of unbridled power, where the dead become their slaves and they cease to age at all.

Healing Sub-types

The Healing magic can fall down a few paths, but one should note that there are two distinct veins of Healing magic- Mending, and Soul. Mending is all about the healing, or decay of another, and can easily be used in an aggressive manner, if needed. This is considered the lighter and more accepted side of Healing magic. However, should one meddle with the path of Soul, they will find a world of unknowable and tempting power before them, as there is so much taboo potential in the remnant souls leave behind after death.

Mending

Focusing around the acceleration of another's natural healing rate to keep them on their feet, Mending is a powerful, but limited magic. Should it be impossible for one to naturally recover from a wound before dying, this magic will do nothing and will simply accelerate their death. The only point where this rule is bent and broken is when one leeches the life from another to empower their abilities, exchanging the wound to whomever they leeched from. However, Leech Mending is a power that only comes to those more adept in the path of Healing magic. Though, as one begins to fall down the path of Leech, they begin to realize the full potential of their abilities. In many cases, this results in many a healer falling down a darker path than most.

Connection

The ability to connect two souls is not easy, but is one that can prove invaluable if your can define what the connection does. From equalizing damage and health between allies, or pushing a portion of damage onto an enemy, Soul Connection is a powerful ability with countless uses outside of battle, with two connected beings able to also transmit thoughts, feelings, and more if you deem it so. This can also be used to empower one's abilities with the experience of another player, or allow one to take energy and stamina from their ally. The ability to link your group together in spiritual and emotional bonds is powerful, at least you can actually master half of that with time.

Remnant

Soul Reminant resides in the bodies of the recently deceased, and if one knows what they are doing, they can easily harvest that energy and use it for various purposes. The most common use is to store the energy in an orb or well of sort to draw on later to power your own spells. However, soul remnant can be a powerful reagent in magical constructs, potions, or enchantments. Those more skilled in the art of Healing magic can even use the lingering soul remnant in a corpse to reanimate them for a short duration and fight by their side, possibly using a storage well of remnant to keep the cadaver shuffling even longer.

Soul

Considered the darkest path of Healing magic, those who fall to deep down this vein will eventually learn to harvest full souls rather than their magical byproduct. These people can trap a soul just after death and store it for future use, either to bind it to their will to rise an eternal servant, empower spells by a devastating degree, or even create Slivers, which allows one to die and use up the sliver to continue on as if nothing happened. Those in possession of a Sliver never age, and they are extremely hard to kill. But this comes at the cost of their own humanity. So much time, murder, and inhumanity wears down even the purest and strongest willed person-... and Slivers require many stolen souls to create.
