Cards

Card games are among the most popular games in the sky. The system of cards is fairly similar to that on the ground. There are five suits, one for each of the dragon subspecies. Rather than the relative mouthful that the subspecies names are, they are instead represented by precious metals - onyx for Duskclaws, diamond for Dawnclaws, sapphire for Amnirclaws, emerald for Arborclaws, and ruby for Ignisclaws. This also helps solve the helpful conundrum of suit ranks, weighing them based on the gem's values rather than actual subspecies preference.   The cards are numbered one through seven, followed by the jacks, queens, kings, and aces. Five suits of eleven makes for fifty-five cards, slightly more than the ground dweller deck. These cards are usually a bit smaller than ground dweller standard size - unless they're made for playing with dragons. Then, they're made much larger, and enchanted (similar to books) for dragon use.

Card Games

There are currently fifty-seven official card games in the sky, but by far, the most popular one is Winds. It can have up to ten players, and they play cards matched by either suit or rank - as long as each card is of a higher value than the previous one. Once everyone has played, the cards are stacked into piles of five, flipped over, and rotated. The piles are shuffled, and then a series of complicated bets are made as to which cards are in which piles. Whoever wins these bets will be dealt the most cards, and play resumes. If one finds themselves unable to play five times, then they are out. The last player still in play is the victor.
Card Conundrums
A popular question about the standard skydeck is that of the gemstones - why are they used in a deck of cards, when even basic stones are rare? The answer is in Crysphic history - trade from the mountain city of Mendoza led to small remnants of gemstones in antique artifacts, and the rarity of these precious jewels likely captivated early Skydwellers, who must've included the gems in their card games.
