Est'en

Est'en is the elemental creature form of the gryphon Avalest who chose to defer his manifestation into an elemental creature after death until such time it was most needed. The Sylveran essence sent him back to Skydaria near the start of the Gryphon Persecution as there was a noticeable shift in attitude of the Velderans toward tribal gryphons, and it sensed a need for Est'en's first-hand knowledge of the Gryphon War and the formation of Veldera.

Est'en takes on the form of a blue phoenix both as birdkin and bird.

Personal history

Upon manifestation, Est'en was sent to consult with the Velderan royal family (both the birdkin ruler and gryphon companions). He also went to Heartflame Valley to talk with the Moltesian gryphon king Doragor regarding the potential for a Velderan-led persecution of gryphons. Later, after the mysterious disappearance of the Velderan king’s gryphon, Est'en began consulting with Ioniphel, the royal gryphon's daughter. As it became clear that an outside force was eliminating the royal gryphons, Est'en convinced Ioniphel (along with her family and bonded birdkin) to flee the kingdom while he stayed in Velos to investigate the Cult of Fenithia, keeping Ioniphel informed on what was happening. After hearing from her that her son, Aeros, found a birdkin egg along with some strange artifacts in the remains of the village of Tarith, Est'en made plans to visit them. Est'en sensed that there was something very special about the child as he survived the attack and was rescued by the son of a royal gryphon of Veldera. After Revecian hatched from the egg, Est'en agreed to adopt him and take him to Velos because of his special nature and to help him develop any powers that he may have. In the meantime, Est'en recognized the artifacts as tools to help birdkin and gryphon bond and sealed them away for when Revecian becomes ready for them.
