Agrimancy

A combined subject of magic spells and disciplines, that utilizes a variety of spells to enhance and improve the growth of plants and the efficiency of agriculture. Originated in Bargzik and has had heavy influence from Larani magic.

Overview

The dicipline of Agricultural magic has several spells that are modifications of well known basic spells, specialized on the caretaking of plants. Many spells are aimed at protecting the plants during their growth as well as providing boosts for the growth process itself. Furthermore they contain spells to enrich the nutrients of the earth, encourage cross-pollination and in some cases enhance certain effects a medicinal herb could have. Lastly, the dicipline contains some spells to help the process of harvesting itself. As an effect, the yield from harvests is well above average and crops mature in a shorter time.

History

About seven centuries ago, Maeranra Tianeedal a half-elven priest of the Larani Cult of Vitukua travelled through Bargzik in in effort to teach the people how to live in harmony with the lands. Sh met unusual resistance at first, since her proposed methods would reduce the work on fields in general. The people feared famines if they would work in her proposed ways. She then reflected on what she witnessed and realized it would benefit both nature and people, if the growth could be helped in magical ways, thus requiring less lands to harvest the same amount of food. Maeranra developed the first magic to protect the plants from sudden frost and enrich the earth with small magical-imbued crystals as fertilizer. Those spells were simple enough and required so little magic, that most farmers were able to learn them.

The results were astonishing and the technique spread across the province. Due to the political conflicts at that time, which eventually lead to the Hill Wars, this knowledge did not immediately spread across the province's borders. As such, it became part of the Bargzik culture and they jealously protected their knowledge. The local Rhomean Church of Vitukua developed the spells further, which eventually led to the founding of the Bargzik School of Agricultural Magic which is the only tradition to teach the full branch of this magic.
