Astral Photon Event

When attempting to charge and then test fire a massive weapon powered by energy drawn directly from the astral plane, a failure of regulators suddenly caused the stored energy to uncontrollably multiply. The engineers, fearful of the weapon suddenly firing and destroying itself and possible the immediate area of it, performed an emergency vent of the systems. When attempting to open the chamber, the interior building pressure caused a further malfunction, and it would require Portinal Ticrak, wearing his military grade magitech chassis, to physically force it open. 
Upon opening the energy chamber on the massive weapon, Portinal completely vanished without a trace. The energy, pouring from the still open portal to the Astral plane, creating a massive dome shaped wave of invisible energy that affected an estimate of 22,210 square miles. Within the radius, all magitech had wild energies surge through it, causing a myriad of effects ranging from fiery explosions and localized weather storms, to changing the color of everything nearby and granting animals the ability to speak. Magical fauna and flora, demons, and otherwise magically inclined living things developed violent mutations and unusual abilities in the matter of seconds. 
Shortly after, some say years, others say hours, The Ironflet Fade was transported to Sinstram arriving during the start of the Second Arrival Era. (See History of Sinstram Timeline)

Manifestation

While not seen by the naked eye, those attuned to magic, and the ability to control it, could feel a massive wave of energy pass them at incredible speed. Wind did not blow, light did not shift, and to the untrained eye nothing changed. To those within magical mechanical suits, wielding or wearing magical gear and otherwise interacting with magically powered items, it was obvious.
