The Iskonge

The Iskonge or in other words, the ice King, this is the man that rules over Jokull atop the Iskald grense. he who wears the cold crown must look after the land but only if it benefits himself. As followers of Valism, glory in death by battle is how every great man wishes to die. But how great is one man's death if all he dies with is nothing but is sword by his side. Thus, it is every king's duty to surpass his predecessor by obtaining wealth and fortune that far exceeds that of the past. In doing so, this is the only way a king can find himself to pass on to the afterlife knowing he has fufilled his role and guiding the next generation to a more fruitful life.
Notably, the first king of Jokull was known for dealing a blow to Krah Iiz, the legendary ice dragon, which lead everyone to believe that the king has to be the strongest amongst all of his people. Thus another responsiblity of the king is to make sure he is not weak and in order to prove to the people that his strength is not just the crown, a yearly tournament is held to present the king's strength and instill faith and love towards the crown as his battle feats and stories will forever be told as he is seen victorous through each and every battle.
Lastly, the title of king holds more power and responsiblities that are unaware and known to the common people. Secret information and meetings about surroundings lands is only kept within the royal family. For example, the existence of the World Tree and its guardian dieties the Giants are one secret that has been passed down from generation to generation. However, the only information about the location is rumored to be past Krah Iiz lair where uncharted territory lies.
