VtM: Shards of Midnight Session 3 Report
General Summary
Where we last left off in Shards of Midnight, we got to see what Scorch was doing while Lynx, Mildred, and Sage were running for their life. Left alone to his own devices, Scorch spent some time bothering Cain, Harper, and the newly arrived Yew Maganti. Yew is Cain's Astrian wife and works for an organization in Astria known as Aether, dedicated to saving demons from being executed by the Knights of Stigma, ordered by King Chalybis to continue the war against the demons. Yew was around the area looking into one demon that may have escaped into Azoth, but told Scorch not to worry about it and took Cain away for a bit before the investigation started. In a crowd, Scorch then noticed he was being followed and ducked between a tent to see who it was. Sure enough, it ended up being the assassin that he has been chasing: Chelidon, the Starling.
Chelidon proceeded to drag Scorch along rooftops, up and down fire escapes, and eventually fled into one of the many graveyards that dot the city of Kilthorne, flirting with him the entire time. The two of them were attacked by a giant raven nihil, which badly hurt Chelidon. Scorch finished it off and finally agreed to go on a date with Chelidon in hopes he would get some questions answered. Meanwhile, back at Alliaster's office, Sage agreed to look for Demonte in Fianna and exited the campaign for the time being. Simon went to his armory to prepare, checking his phone and laptop for the social media profiles of certain people but was unable to gather much information due to them being on private. Mildred went out of the office and went to find a friend of hers, the abrasive and trash-eating Rakyon who is Luicine's husband. While he mostly complained about his in-laws and not understanding culture, it became clear that he is a thief of some kind and is Luicine's spy for looking around.
Taking Sage's place is a young Astrian known as Aldia Timanun, apprentice to the White Priest, Altey. Looking around his home, his sheep, and Altey's home, it becomes clear that he still isn't back yet. Before Aldia went to look for him himself, a priest of the Aviarius came to find him. Taking him to the Aviarius, Mikiel, Aldia is told to find Altey and is given a dove of Diaye to help him with such a task. Heading to Azoth, Aldia runs into Mildred and Rakyon, deciding to tag along with them in his search for his mentor. Meeting up with everyone, they go to the crime scene and are allowed to talk to one witness and Mildred's friend, Evander. Evander is a historian who happened to be the one who tackled Altey who had entered the theater a few minutes before him. The group also obtained a mysterious wooden star that they promptly broke. Upon interrogating Evander, the group found out that there was no sign of a struggle, a lot of blood at the scene, and Altey was found standing over the body.
