Endeis Antiope
Kyrios Endeis Antiope, of Altruis
The current ruler of The Kingdom of Altruis, and has been in the position for 51 years. Born into poverty, and orphaned at a young age, she was discovered by agents of the Regent, Thestor, to be the last surviving member of the old ruling family and designated heir to the throne of Altruis. Despite her common birth, she has proven herself to be a capable and popular ruler, ensuring that the upper class of nobles improve their attitude towards their own subjects.
"I may have come from humble origins, but my birthright is Altruis. If you have issue with me because of the circumstances of my birth, then I pity those who live under your rule, as I share my beginnings with them. Improve your behaviour, or I shall see you replaced with ones more worthy, regardless of their origins."

Personal history
Although her exact birth date is not known, her year of birth was 559, in the small rural village of Gortanos in the east of Altruis. Her father had died not long after her conception, and her mother died when she was just an infant, so she was taken in by her mother's family. By all indications, she was reasonably well treated, but the family were just poor farmers, and food and resources were limited, with priority being given to her foster parent's own children, all a few years older.
In 564, agents of the Regent Thestor, arrived in the village following up a lead for a potential offshoot lineage to the old Antiope royal family, thought extinct after being overthrown in 258. At first they thought their journey wasted, after being told that the family had died a few years back, but an offhand comment overheard in the inn before they left led them to Endeis. Realising this was the probably the only surviving heir to the Antiope line, she was taken with them back to Altruis for examination.
Determining ancestry was not easily established, but using artworks of previous members of the dynasty to look for similarities in appearance, and some novel use of magic, Endeis was officially declared an Antiope in 566. Thestor immediately nominated her his successor, to take her throne once she reached the age of majority at 17, until then, he would remain Regent and guide her upbringing. There was a small amount of dissent, mainly from noble houses who felt their claims were more substantial, but Thestor's popularity with the army and, perhaps more importantly, the public, meant that any objections were never seriously entertained. A date was set for Endeis' birthday, and she began to learn what she needed to know to take her place.
In 576, on Endeis 17th birthday. Thestor officially abdicated, and she was coronated Kyrios Endeis Antiope, monarch of Altruis. In the 51 years since, she has married, had six children (and five grandchildren so far), seen off an invasion from another Strata, and overseen the rebuilding of eastern Altruis after the strataquake of 621. Her popularity remains high, and the kingdom appears stable under her rule.
