PURGED

Being purged means that all members of the respective house are being killed off, this also means the servants and soldiers present at the time of the purge. This can happen to all Major houses, but it has happened to Minor houses as well in the past. Not only that, the family name, and all of its history, becomes void. Books where their names are mentioned will be rewritten, without the name, and burned after that. All the official documents, like wedding/birth/death certificates, are burned. The manor the family lived in, both in their estate and near the capital, are destroyed.

Warning signs

The first warning that a family gets is excommunication from the temple of Volaris, the Goddess of Strength and Honor. All the members of this family are not allowed to enter the Temple, and the Goddess herself does not answer to any prayers. There is also the fact that if there is a priest inside the temple with the same name, they are thrown out.   The second warning is that the family members are excommunicated for events. Like balls, banquets, tea parties, hunting parties. Women are no longer welcome in the tearooms, and the men are no longer welcome in the salon, gambling houses and high-end brothels.   The last warning are black roses drenched in blood that are laid right at the front door of the manor.   These are not warnings to change course, these are warnings for the servants, soldiers and the daughters of this family to get out before it is too late.

Get out

There is only a select group of family members that are able to escape this fate. That are the daughters of the family, they can marry into another family, changing their alliance. Or fleeing the empire, and never come back. Men who are fleeing are chased down and are killed, even when they were not in the empire.

History

The Purge is a dark relic of the past, when House Oran started to conquer the continent, taking over lands either through negotiations, victory with them letting the family live this only happened after they teamed up with House Eldar, or more often then not wipping out the whole family that lived on that piece of land.

Why a family gets PURGED

It is not known what the string of events are before a family gets purged, it is believed that the family that is being purged made enemies with all off Secular society, and the Church of Volaris. But there are cases in history where this is not the case, and the house in question made just one single enemy, House Oran. Between the year 300 and 400 the Church of Volaris issued that they also needed to give consent to a purge. To take away this huge power, the Imperial Family had over the rest of the houses. After that, the amount of purges lessened. The last house that was purged is House Giora.

Crimes of House Giora

House Giora, led by Binar Giora. Became the topic of disgust soon after Binar took over the Head of the house title from his dying father. Rumors are that he killed him, to get the title sooner. Binar, better known as the Old Crow, and after the purge people only say his nickname to avoid using his name. The Old Crow was fond of female company, if they were willing or not. It was known that he forced himself on female servants, forced them to become his mistress. His wife Aviv Giora slowly killed those women with poison to get rid of them and potential offspring. The last crime the Old Crow committed, which made him an enemy of all the houses, was killing the Emperor's fiancée, Amirit Nir, only because he wanted her, and she refused him. This was also the reason why the Church of Volaris was on board with this.   After they were Purged, it was being discovered that the Old Crow had an illegitimate daughter, Meyda Giora, who was mistreated by Aviv Giora, Mariana Giora and Benedict Giora. She is firm in her stance that the Old Crow never raised his hand, but he didn't protect her either.
