Velan (Veh-Lawn)

One of two major continents held by the Yen Fey Empire.

Geography

Velan's biggest features are the two large lakes located in the north east. These lakes separate the temperate mid-strip the center of the island has with the tropical forests to the far north east. A small mountain range sits to the south west, right after crossing a similarly small sized desert. Just across that mountain range is a temperate forest.

Ecosystem Cycles

Like all other skylands, the island raises in altitude during summer and falls during winter. Due to being linked to many other islands, the ecosystem is capable of supporting migration across islands, something that is only mirrored by the Shifting Archipelago.

Localized Phenomena

The twin lakes of Velan are landlocked with no rivers feeding them. Amazingly, the water in these lakes never seems to drain or dry up.

Natural Resources

Rich with a suprisingly seemingly bottomless Twin Lakes of water. The temperate strip makes for good animal farmland, less so plant life.

People visit the island of Velan to see the beauty of the Twin Lakes as well as the beauty of the Chained Empire.
