Wheezer Character in Shadowrun: Englewood | World Anvil

Wheezer

Not every gang in Englewood lost its leadership in the Second Valentines Day Massacre. The Cutters still have Wheezer. And he’s had more than his share of conflict with Eagle Security over the years. One of the earliest run-ins left him with a throat injury that led to his street name. He can’t muster much volume when he speaks, and his words sound like they’re coming out of a leaking air compressor.   He fought his way up through the ranks of the Cutters. For a while, he was content to be the top dog’s lieutenant, but eventually, even that rankled. Everybody thought Duke would remain king of the mountain because he was a much better fighter, but Wheezer was bigger, tougher, and meaner than anyone—even the survivors of his ascent through the ranks—gave him credit for.   Many members of the Cutters lost their lives in the Massacre. They still hold the domes, but they had to pull back from the streets. There's far too few gangers for Wheezer's taste moving the product in the domes. He figured it was just a matter of time before another gang takes a shot at his turf. He'll beat them down, and prove once again that he's a survivor. And, it turned out he was right. The Cutters fought their first gang war under Wheezer's leadership against the first Nations, and came out on top, and now hold more corners outside the domes than they have good spots in the domes. But now, it's looking like Cutters are the least of the big three gangs of Englewood, so Wheezer's made some sort of deal with Saeder-Krupp.   In the Cutters, everybody that survived the New Valentines Day Massacre is now pretty much an OG, and some of them are now street legends. Coyote is a no shit street samurai, who's back in the hood. DeShawn Freeman is a troll who took on one of the drones from the New Valentines Day Massacre one on one and came out on top. Muhammad Said is a phys ad warrior who protected a ton of people in the domes, backed up by a rigger who goes by Torque, a shaman who calls herself Ms. Raven who is rumored to be very dark, and a hacker that goes by Lemon. And then there's Dr. Funk. Maybe he's a street mage, or maybe something else, he was a name on the streets even before the Massacre, and was with the Cutters long before Wheezer was in charge, and now he's back.   That's a lot of power on top, but even after the war with the First Nations, and getting their numbers replenished in the months since, the Cutters are still recruiting. One of those faces is "Funesto" Pedro, who's been around long enough that he can't really be called a new recruit, even if he did join after the First Nations War. Still, he's risen quickly, and now controls the west side, all the corners outside of the domes answer to hem. And a couple of Cutters are even getting back in after they do their time in prison, like David Pierre. And some folks say a legend on the streets, the gang's former leader Duke, is going to be getting out this year.   And as 2055 rolled around, there was another fixture with the gang. Mr. Kluwe isn't one of their OGs, and doesn't even live in Englewood, but this suit is with Wheezer more days than not. Some people say he's got even more cyberware than Coyote, but that's just talk, right? But Kluwe's time by Wheezer's side was not to last. The man's still in Chicago, still a man on the street for Saeder Krupp, but he's left Englewood for now, and left with the Cutters being a whole lot richer.   Coyote
