Vauns

Despite there being little reason or belief as to why this happens, most mortals have a habit of overlooking a Vaun, as if one never expected to see one such as them in such a place as this, or going unnoticed entirely. Noticing them is a strange reminder that they were never actually forgotten at all. Their role in society is varied, serving various industries. Known often as scholars, poets, ne'er-do-wells, performers, physicians, and hired hands. An odd phenomenon to be startled and confused to round the corner to see a Vaun in their own shop, but such is the life of the Vaun.

{ Mending Bond } Once per week, those of House Silverblood may use their own blood to coat the wound of another mortal. A numbing sensation is offered to the wounded that lasts for one hour, and so long as the wound is not life-threatening, their healing time is halved. When fully healed, it has the silvery sheen of a repaired crack, like the native Vauns do.

House Goldwater

Racial Gift:
{ Forgotten Trace } Once per week, the Vaun may play their nature of being forgotten to their advantage. When encountering a single individual, at the end of the interaction, the Vaun can have the other participant in the conversation roll a d20. 7 or lower, and the person forgets having spoken to the Vaun or the Vaun having been there. They are left with a nagging sensation of having forgotten something very important, but cannot quite place it.

"The Vaun are a boisterous lot and have a zest for life that can be envious to many. They will be quick to fight in defense of what they love, but just as quick to take up the pen to page. A wandering soul, and a slightly unpredictable one at that. Found in all corners and all walks of life, yet somehow always a surprise to see them there."
The Vaun are split into two Houses, as they call it. Although the origin and manner of these houses have been lost to time, such splits are still visible among the Vaun today.

House Silverblood
House Goldwater

The Vaun are largely the same in height, statue, and physiology. Biggest differences being the blood and the scars that cover them, and the colors that they bear.

Average Height (Without horns)
Males: 6'0 - 6'5
Females: 5'5 - 5'10

Average Weight
Males: 140 - 180lbs
Females: 125- 150lbs

Average Physique
The Vaun sway towards a leaner build, but lifestyle and great effort can lead to a larger muscle mass.

Physical Features
Slanted ears, on a slightly shorter side compared to the other races with extended ears. Most notable, however, are the curling horns atop their head. They are born with small nubs that continue to grow of the course of their lives. Shapes can very to thick, curling horns to almost thin spikes. The Vaun possess a long tail, helpful for balance. It is not agile enough to hold objects, but can be controlled by the Vaun as necessary.

Abilities:
The very blood of the Vaun stands out against that of other mortals, and it is where the Vaun Houses of Silverblood and Goldwater derive their names. When wounded, the vaun does not heal in a manner of normal scar tissue. Instead, their blood settles into the wound like a metallic sheen and gives a mild numbing effect. Once healed, it leaves a permanent metallic sheen, giving them the appearance of cracked porcelain that has been repaired with an inlay of silver or gold. Some creative, although masochistic Vaun, have come to do so intentionally as a manner of tattooing themselves.

Lifespan
60-100 years

Reproduction
Three months
Compatible with Orosian, Corvin, Morkhaun, and Vaun
