The Three Unwholesome Roots

"Bhikkhus, I shall teach you a discourse on the restraint and abandonment of the taints. Listen closely ... Thus, bhikkhus, by seeing, restraint, using, endurance, avoiding, removing, and developing, the taints are destroyed."

The Three Unwholesome Roots is a powerful and ancient magical technique that grants a mage control over three fundamental forces of existence: Moha (Confusion/Stagnation), Dvesha (Aversion/Repulsion), and Raga (Desire/Attraction). These three principles not only govern human behavior and emotions but also influence the very fabric of reality. Mastering this technique allows a mage to manipulate these forces on both a physical and metaphysical level, offering a wide array of applications that extend far beyond simple object manipulation or magical attacks.   The versatility of the Three Unwholesome Roots technique is immense, offering both offensive and defensive applications depending on the mage’s mastery. Beyond combat, these forces can be used for large-scale manipulations—such as influencing societal development, protecting bloodlines from ill fortune, and ensuring the long-term prosperity of entire civilizations. When used together, the roots of Moha, Dvesha, and Raga provide an intricate balance of control over the flow of energy, enabling the mage to become a nearly unassailable force.

Effect

  1. Moha (Confusion / Stagnation)
  2. Dvesha (Aversion / Repulsion)
  3. Raga (Desire / Attraction)
The Three Unwholesome Roots technique allows a Mage to have control over forces of stagnation, repulsion, and attraction. The application of this technique goes beyond just moving objects or people and preventing items from moving and such. The Three Roots can be used on a metaphysical level, to freeze the progress of civilization, to attract blessings and good fortune to one's family and to repel evil and bad karma from them. When used by an exceptional mage, the Three Roots can ender a Mage, for all intents and purposes, invulnerable and immortal.
  1. Moha: The ability to cause absolutely anything to remain unchanged so it either doesn't evolve or devolve. Users can cause absolutely anything/anyone (which is naturally occurring or which they have brought about) that they target to become stopped and/or unchanging so it doesn't/they don't progress and/or regress.
  2. Dvesha: The power to manipulate repulsion. The user can create, shape, and manipulate the forces of repulsion (mental strength, gravitational force, magnetic force, etc.).
  3. Raga: The power to manipulate attraction. The user can create, shape, and manipulate the forces of attraction (mental strength, gravitational force, magnetic force, etc.).

Manifestation

The Three Unwholesome Roots technique also grants the mage access to three distinct Magical Transformations, each corresponding to one of the roots. These transformations amplify the associated magical powers, granting the mage both physical and metaphysical abilities that enhance their control over Moha, Dvesha, and Raga.
  1. The Ebony Pig: When assuming the form of the Ebony Pig, the mage’s mastery of Raga is significantly heightened. This transformation turns the mage into a pig-like being, with the unique ability to attract damage and attacks toward themselves. Once damaged, the mage’s durability and defensive capabilities increase in direct proportion to the total damage received. This makes the Ebony Pig form a powerful tank-like transformation that can absorb vast amounts of punishment while growing stronger. However, this form consumes a great deal of magical energy, meaning the mage must use it strategically in battle.
  2. The Alabaster Bird: In the form of the Alabaster Bird, the mage’s control over Moha reaches its peak. The mage takes on the appearance of a swift, bird-like creature, gaining extraordinary speed and agility, making them nearly untouchable. When in this form, any attack—whether physical or magical—slows down dramatically as it approaches the mage, eventually halting just before impact. This makes the mage functionally untouchable, as all offensive efforts against them are neutralized. An additional advantage of this form is that it consumes no magical energy to maintain, allowing the mage to remain in the Alabaster Bird state for extended periods without exhausting their resources.
  3. The Emerald Serpent: The Emerald Serpent transformation enhances the mage’s control over Dvesha. Taking on the form of a snake-like entity, the mage becomes immune to most toxins, venoms, and other harmful substances. In this form, the mage not only repels negative influences but also gains the ability to harvest magical energy from defeated foes. This allows the Emerald Serpent to sustain itself for much longer periods than other transformations, as the mage can absorb and use the magical essence of others to maintain the form. This makes the Emerald Serpent form particularly effective in battles where the mage can defeat multiple enemies and continually restore their power.

Source

Magic is born from the fusion of two essential energies: Mana and Natural Energy. Mana, a raw form of energy from the 5th Dimension, is mixed with Natural Energy, a passive energy emitted by all beings. When a mage channels Mana through their Mana Cells, it is refined by blending with Natural Energy, making it usable for beings in the lower dimensions. This refined energy, known simply as Magic, is the core substance from which all magical techniques are crafted. Every mage’s magic is unique, shaped by their individual experiences, bloodline, and Dharma. Over generations, as members of a family or bloodline repeatedly practice magic in harmony with their Dharma, they develop an Inherited Magical Jutsu. The source of these techniques lies in the bloodline itself, creating a cyclical relationship where the bloodline and the Jutsu evolve together. If a bloodline ceases to produce Dharmic Mages, the technique may eventually fade away, while an influx of Dharmic Mages strengthens and refines the inherited power.
