Full Body Awareness: Mastery of the Physical Form Through Magic

Full Body Awareness is a highly advanced magical discipline composed of three interconnected sub-arts: the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Body Arts. Together, these sub-arts allow a mage to manipulate their body with precision, adapting to nearly any physical or magical challenge. This art is focused exclusively on enhancing control over the mage’s physical form through magic, offering both offensive and defensive techniques. As each tier of the Body Arts builds upon the previous one, mastery of Full Body Awareness grants extraordinary versatility and power.

The 1st Body Arts: Foundations of Physical Manipulation
The 1st Body Arts serve as the foundation of Full Body Awareness, introducing mages to the essential principles of physical manipulation. The primary focus here is teaching the mage how to transition their body between solid, liquid, and gaseous states. Each of these states offers unique advantages in both combat and tactical situations, giving the mage a well-rounded toolkit for various scenarios.
  1. Cloud Step: The mage becomes intangible, phasing into a gaseous state that allows them to avoid harm and control wind (Anila) for evasion and battlefield control.
  2. Unbreakable Body: The mage hardens its body into solid materials like metal or stone for enhanced defense, mimicking the durability of various substances.
  3. Fluid Form: The mage liquefies their body, becoming fluid and adaptable, perfect for evasion, infiltration, and reducing damage from attacks.
The 1st Body Arts are characterized by their low energy cost and minimal commitment to use, making them accessible for long durations or frequent use in battle. They provide a strong balance between offensive and defensive capabilities, allowing the mage to adapt their form to the needs of the moment. However, these spells, while versatile, are still fundamental and do not provide the advanced capabilities found in the later stages of Full Body Awareness. The 1st Body Arts focuses primarily on altering basic states of matter (solid, liquid, gas) rather than complex transformations.
The 2nd Body Arts: Intermediate Mastery and Shapeshifting
The 2nd Body Arts elevate the mage’s control over their form to a new level, introducing Shapeshifting as the central spell. Here, the mage moves beyond simply altering their body’s physical state and begins to take on the appearance, characteristics, and even physical traits of other beings. This intermediate-level art requires deeper magical knowledge and precision.
  1. Shapeshifting: The mage can alter their physical form to resemble other beings, objects, or even animals. This allows for strategic advantages in combat, infiltration, and evasion by disguising their identity or adapting to new forms.
  2. Maximum Performance: This spell pushes the mage’s body to its absolute peak, maximizing its strength, speed, stamina, and magical efficiency for a limited time.
Shapeshifting offers unparalleled versatility in both combat and non-combat scenarios. Mages can disguise themselves or gain the abilities of the forms they mimic, such as flight or enhanced defense. Energy consumption increases with the complexity of the form assumed, making advanced shapeshifting more taxing on the mage. Maximum Performance grants the mage a temporary boost in physical abilities, making them incredibly formidable in critical moments or during intense battles. Overuse of Maximum Performance risks physical and magical exhaustion, potentially leading to permanent damage if pushed too far.
The 3rd Body Arts: Advanced Metaphysical Transformation
The 3rd Body Arts represents the apex of Full Body Awareness, allowing mages to not only their physical form but also their very essence. These spells involve transforming into other beings entirely, granting the mage access to powers, abilities, and magical signatures that were previously beyond their reach. This level of body manipulation magic is highly complex and requires immense magical skill to perform effectively.
  1. The Rite of Innumerable Transformations: The mage can fully assume the form, powers, and abilities of any being they have conquered, creating a Mold of the target. This spell goes beyond shapeshifting by allowing the mage to become the being in all aspects, not just in appearance.
  2. Hellbent & Heavensent: This spell allows the mage to enter and survive in both the Holy and Unholy Multiverses by transforming into either a demonic (Hellbent) or angelic (Heavensent) form. In these forms, the mage gains access to Black Magic (Darkness) or Hallowed Magic (Light), respectively.
The Rite of Innumerable Transformations offers unmatched power and versatility, allowing the mage to store multiple forms and access the abilities of defeated foes. The mage can store up to 72 different forms, effectively granting them multiple lives as they can switch between these forms to survive fatal encounters. Hellbent & Heavensent opens up new realms of magic, granting access to powers normally reserved for divine or infernal beings, expanding the mage's magical arsenal.   The 3rd Body Arts require deep knowledge of both physical and metaphysical elements, making them difficult to master and highly taxing on a mage’s magical reserves. Beings with the Truth Seeing Eye or similar abilities can see through transformations and strip away the assumed forms, revealing the mage’s true self.

Full Body Awareness represents the ultimate mastery over one’s physical form through magic. It is a layered system, with each tier of the Body Arts building upon the previous, from the foundational control of states of matter in the 1st Body Arts, to the complex transformations of the 2nd Body Arts, culminating in the metaphysical shifts of the 3rd Body Arts. When used in combination, these spells grant mages unprecedented control over their body, allowing them to adapt to any situation, enhance their physical attributes, and even transcend their mortal limits.   This magical discipline emphasizes balance and control, with each level requiring greater mastery and knowledge of the body’s potential. Full Body Awareness is not simply about survival or combat; it is about understanding the full range of possibilities the body can achieve when combined with magical power. For mages who seek to transcend the limits of their physical form, Full Body Awareness offers a path to unparalleled power and transformation.
