Cursecasting & Hexcraft
Effect
Curse
- A curse is a broad and often long-lasting form of magical malediction.
- It is typically invoked by a supernatural force, a deity, a witch, or a magician as a form of punishment or retribution.
- Curses can be generational (affecting an entire lineage), location-based (e.g., a cursed land), or individual.
- They can take many forms, such as bad luck, sickness, misfortune, or supernatural affliction.
- Some curses require specific rituals to lift or break them.
Hex
- A hex is a deliberate spell cast to bring about specific harm or misfortune to someone.
- The term often implies witchcraft or folk magic (e.g., Pennsylvania Dutch Hex signs).
- Hexes are usually temporary or targeted rather than a grand, fate-altering doom like a curse.
- In some traditions, hexes can be undone or countered with counter-magic.
