Elegy

A town build on the ruins of an anchient city from long before. The town is haunted, and has been since long before it was founded.   The founder of the town knew about the areas close connection to death and decided to lay the roaming souls to rest. By using serveral funural rites he buried many of the dead laying many of them to rest. Those that refused were allowed to continue to roam until they were ready, and the more dangerous ones were forced into rest. These burial rites were known prevent ressurection and reanimation of the bodies, making sure those who received these funural rites in Elegy would receive their rest.   When he though he was done the area was alreay a massive graveyard. But the dead kept showing up, and now the living came to have their dead buried here as well. So the town kept growing and extending its burial rites, the temple kept welcoming more and more gods. Serveral tombs were built and forests of the dead were planted.   The surrounding lands are now covered in graves of all shapes and sizes and many undead and ghosts roam the area with suprisingly little conflict.   The townsfolk specialize in burial rites and the many gods that exist to support their town. This is the final resting place for many, heroes, kings and commoners alike.

Defences

The town has no wall and does not have a large military, as its a goverened town it has a guard captain and a few lieutenants to deal with any heavy lifting of combat and leadership.   As the dead are the biggest problem and the people living there have most experience dealing with them the majority of the guard are a rotating militia of townsfolk. There are those who prefer the duties fulltime.   The graves are protected by the church grimms and the spirits themselves so defiling of graves, graverobbers etc are often not a problem.

Industry & Trade

Performing burial rituals and offering graves. Also since the church of many is there, they travel to nearby villages to perform rites there if desired.
