Session 42: Retreat!
General Summary
Still split up, the party found themselves clearing rooms as two groups. In one of the rooms, the main group ( Taric, and Ardit) ended up in combat with a wooden chair construct. Taken some hits from creature, the group was finally able to clear the room just as Chuck.
Working to clear the upstairs, the group found a copy of the original charter granting the Lotheeds stewardship of the county. Packing this away, the group moved on. They then encountered the ghost of Mercater Lotheed, as he pointed them to some hidden documents in the room. All of the documents seemed to reference Panivar Lotheed II-VI in one way or another spanning the past 200-300 years.
Moving on the group split again to their demise, as Ardit stayed behind, distracted by spells, and not wanting to continue clearing the upstairs. While the rest of the group cleared the upstairs, a fight broke out that brought Chuck to the cusp of death when another construct critically wounded him. Taric failed to cast a breath of Life scroll, but Ivom was able to quickly grab the scroll and save Chuck at the last minute. With Ardit finally back with the group, the fight seemed hopeless, and the group make a quick retreat with the creature on their tail.
Ivom's little halfling legs could not run fast enough from the medium sized construct causing Chuck to pick up Ivom and run like their lives depended on it (and they did). The group barely escaped and ran off from the Birdsong Palace leaving the bloody mess of their fights behind, hoping to return sooner rather than later as time is ticking before massive reinforcements arrive to squash this "rebellion".
