Fenthas

a blackened land of thieves and brigands, scoured by the remaining forces of chaos and scarred by the mark of the dark deities. lead by a caste of forgotten and disgraced warriors from far across the sea, Fenthas provides the more illicit and morally grey and black services to the other kingdoms of the Northerlands. from thieves and scavengers to mercenaries and trained assassins. the land is cast into darkness deeper than the rest of the world as a cloud of pollution from the remnants of chaos machinery drive the massive industry of Helsreach and the rest of the rest of the country, smog so thick that not even the stars or Asmodai can shine through the haze. as they wait on the far shore for a time when their services can be expanded past the Skybone mountains in the south and the gifts of Fenthas can reach the rest of the world. their culture of thievery and grey morals can pierce the boarders of other nations and turn the world to absolute anarchy.

Structure

the civilization is regulated by an organization called the "Disgraced" who are a pseudo mercenary and bounty hunting guild based in Helsreach. the Disgraced regulate the amount of violence and the general activities in Fenthas through threat of armed intervention. other than threat of retribution from the Disgraced the country has no laws, there are no regulations on money or narcotics or murder nor any other action that would be viewed as illicit or immoral. Fenthas is filled with the hordes of thieves bandits, murderers and disgraced warriors, thus the nation is a very volatile and dangerous place, the general granted rules of the society are dictated by the wants and needs of the several massive guilds of thieves and mercenaries that dot the landscape. their members follow the needs of the different guilds to the letter, as disobeying carries the threat of assassination or a few guild enforcers that will show up to teach the individual a lesson. the guilds are as follows.
  • The Disgraced: Elite mercenaries and bounty hunters, known for bodyguard jobs and their adherence to a special code of honor during their jobs. unlike other mercenaries the Disgraced do not always go for the highest bidder instead choosing to take jobs that interest them personal. they do not hire out large forces usually one or two personnel per job due to their limited number and individualistic nature.
  • The Splinters: a massive thieves guild who hires out members for theft, muggings, blackmail, and minor espionage. the guild is founded on the principle of networking between thieves and mainly serves as a hub for information and work to be shared easily between the professionals. the guild accepts donations from members to keep them hidden from bounty hunters and the wrath of the Disgraced. it is currently regulated by Fredrick Atmos. who refers his members to parties who wish to conduct heists or steal items from more prominent citizens. the Splinters are interested in upholding the wealth of the region, after all if the people are poor then there will be no one to steal from.
  • the RedCaps: a large mercenary contracting organization that hires its services to the highest bidder. the RedCaps have large reserves or manpower and will sell division sized elements to their patrons. they function more as a private army than individual mercenaries. when a person hires from the Caps they usually take a minimum of a platoon. the RedCaps interests lie in the general violence of the region, wishing to keep it moderate so their forces are still required.
  • Court of Blades: a wide spread assassin organization that hires its services to anyone who seeks the death of another. they use dark magics and brutal weapon skills to brutalize their targets and cause the most certain death that they are physical capable of providing. Court assassins are known to continue a job until there is no uncertainty that their prey is deceased. the Court needs places to hide their bases and benefactors to continue their business, they seek to maintain a relatively stable environment so that they have a place to base their business out of.
  • Skrullers: the combined organizations of the gangs and cartels that run out of Fenthas. they find their interests in the narcotics trade and import into fenthas as well as the slave trade business. they seek to conduct their operations without interference from the other guilds. however they are the guild that most annoys the Disgraced and they will occasionally enter into conflicts with the Disgraced called Spree wars which last maximum a few weeks before the Skrullers give in and temperately consent to the will of the Disgraced. they have interest in keeping the people safe and protected, without the general populace they would have no income or market for their produce.
  • Scavvers Guild: a group of scavengers and treasure hunters that scour the far shore for ancient relics and remnants of the Imperium and the old world. the scavengers want to maintain the city of Helsreach as a base of operations for their expeditions into the Far shore

Public Agenda

Fenthas has a near monopoly of massed organised crime and contract warriors. they seek the business of the rest of the world as that is their main source of income and their claim to political and social leverage. they are known as a land of brigands thieves and the worst kind of people but even the worst people can be useful in some capacity, and many other organizations in the Northerlands rely on Fenthas to provide protection, soldiers, contractors, and a variety of other experts that can be very useful to almost any country. the overall goal of Fenthas that is shared between all the guilds is to get all other nations and peoples to require a service from the Forsaken, to make their land indispensable to the rest of the world and enable the continued activity of all the guilds. they want to expand business, spread their name, and integrate their citizens into the lives of all other countries as well as the culture of Fenthas itself.

Assets

Fenthas has the benefit (or Disadvantage) of being the closest land to the far shore, which means they are able to acquire more technology from the old world and its nations. the guilds have a shared fund of 645,000 GP, to spend on non primary tasks that would benefit their nation. their soldiers are varied in skill and experience coming from the different guilds but they have a variety of advanced weapons and magical arms retrieved from the far shore that are shared around their guilds and to the defense force. their cities are the largest and most built in the entire region hiving been built or re purposed from the ruins of old world fortress cities, Helsreach the capital city holds upwards of 35,000 individuals. they have a transport fleet owned by individual guilds that amounts to upwards of 100 ships and they own a recovered sky cruiser named the Ivictius Fellum an ancient imperial Battleship from the wars of extermination. in their capital city there are large mines to scrap piles that are smelted down in the furnaces to be usable steel and other material for the city later. the main city also has connections with several massive trading companies including "Swains Relics" and "Granack and CO"

History

Fenthas is a relatively recent nation created in P.C 237 by a group of Banished and Disgraced Senshiin lead by Fallen Warrior Akai Inozuma, they had come from the far continent of Lishtca in to the east. they had been banished for disobeying the senshiin codes of honor they fled to the lower part of the far shore and settled in the ruins of a pre crusade city. in the center of the city was a collapsed Emperor class titan called "Vision of a Savior" Akai made the temple of the back of the titan his palace and began to fortify the city with his fellow fallen warriors. they sought to reanimate the massive machine but could not succeed for the mechanical giant was too complex. instead they relegated themselves to defending the city from the horrors of the far shore that were common before the Plains War in P.C 345. they created a safe haven in Helsreach which before was overrun by daemons and the combined forces of chaos. when word spread of the protection that the Senshiin provided many villagers and tribes folk as well as the banished from other countries began to congregate in the city seeking protection from the outside world. in the year P.C 237 Akai created a state of protection called Fenthas, after the title of his home village. the state soon grew as the banished and outcasts from rest of the world found their way to the city. as the population grew the state took on more of a criminal and outcast society protected from their persecutors and the forces of chaos. by the year P.C 230 the state was established as one of the greater powers of the world having become the headquarters for the scavenger guilds and several other massive businesses, they conducted trade and business with all other existing countries of the era. nut when the plains war began, the Grey Watch could not get units to their cities fast enough and the people of Fenthas wer forced to conduct a massed migration across the sea where they scattered and fled to various remaining countries to help fight back the massive invasion force, bit they never forgot their home. when the war was declared over by the Grey Watch, the Forsaken denied this and chased the forces of chaos back to the far shore under the leadership or Kise Sakai a Fallen Senshin descendant from Lishtca together the forsaken fought another 20 years against the forces of chaos in their ancestral lands before reclaiming the island. in the year P.C 395 the city of Helsreach finally came back into the hands of the Forsaken. when they re took the city they found it to be filled with ancient chaos technology and inventions, over the next 100 years the forsaken would work on rebuilding their city and adapting the tech left behind by the forces of chaos. now the country is filled with polluted air and the overbuilt structures of a near insane architect with buildings upon buildings and smog that covers the night sky making the country darker than any other. the thieves and brigands resurfaced and established the council of guilds as well as a plan for the eventuality of chaos returning. it is now a country filled with the technology of a bygone era and the remnants of decrepit and defiled machines that run the industry of the society and blacken the far shore.

Territories

Fenthas has control of the only reclaimed land in the Far Shore, which is a large island not far off the coast. it is isolated from the rest of the countries by the hemlock river, and constitutes a relatively small piece of territory in the massive expanse of the northerlands. they hold the best foothold on the far shore and serve as a base for many scavengers and treasure hunters that seek the ancient ruins and technology that covers the land of the far shore.

Military

the military is not too consistent or regimented. the most elite units are fielded by the Disgraced, and take the form of genetically engineered soldier peoples called the Senshiin trained from birth. these are solitary warriors and seldom work well in massed formations or armed forces tactics. the rest of the army is made up of mercenaries and armed merchants who don't have the skill or physical traits of the Senshiin. they make up for their poor organization and cohesion with use of advanced technology retrieved from the Far Shore.

Technological Level

Fenthas is roughly the tech level of early sixteen hundreds Britain, with some old world tech mixed in, such as repaired tanks and promethium generators that have been recovered from the forces of chaos after the plains war, they are archaic machines that drive the society. Fenthas is a land of armored knights adventurers and the uncommon Las rifle toting warrior. they uncommonly have old world technology combined with common armor and advanced swords and crossbows. there is plumbing inside of wealthy buildings and filled with companies and industry.

Agriculture & Industry

Fenthas is very cold and thus does not have much agriculture or farms in the business market. Fenthas is however a massive industrial hub, with thousands of massed smelters and forges that smelt retrieved iron and steel down to make new items, the fly ash and soot that fills the sky is proof of the massive steel and production industry that covers Fenthas. the people of Fenthas have repurposed the technology of the chaos forces that occupied the island many years before, most notable is the massed smelters of the fallen dwarves that is capable of producing Seared iron which is notably stronger than many other materials found in the world. they trade the seared iron and their man power to the other nations.

Trade & Transport

Fenthas has a large oversea transport network with their fleet and the fleet of Nordica. they work to bring the relics and recoveries of the scavenger guild to the rest of the world and the other nations for sale and repair. other than that the disgraced own a large sky cruiser and many overland mechanized transport used for transport and trade of items overland. the other way that Fenthas trades with the mainland is by airship, magical sky transports that take the shape of wooden sailing ships that glide through the clouds. there are docks in all major cities and this enables trade over the sea and into the mainland faster than overland travel.

Education

young people are educated by their guilds, and they are taught not to read and write but instead they are taught skills and trade that would help them with their future position in the guild that is teaching them. the thieves guild will teach how to pick locks and thieve pockets. the mercenaries guild will tech military tactics and combat skills, and the assassin guild will teach the best way to slit a throat. they will not learn history or language but their education is handled in one way or another.

Infrastructure

Fenthas is a land of industry filled with massive stone walls and winding catacombs and ancient defences, many cities have dock and air ship ports for the trade of their goods and the shipping of food. the massive fortress cities are surrounded by huge walls and filled with watch towers and anti siege weaponry, a good few even have archaic beam batteries from the old world still mounted to the walls for defense of cities. there are 3 huge bridges that connect Fenthas to the far shore and more still that dot the landscape over smaller frozen streams and brooks. Fenthas is filled with blast furnaces and massed forges that fume a constant black smoke into the night sky. and Helsreach contains "the Lock" a massive sky cruiser dock from the time of the first crusade that contains their one remaining sky cruiser. it is a heavily industrialized and built up society.

Major Exports
Fenthas exports the Seared Iron and services of the different guild, the best export is the service of the guilds and factions that sell more moral grey services to the world. the world requires the different services of Fenthas such as mercenaries and thieves and assassins, these are highly needed skills, and fenthas exports people that are skilled in these activities. they also export technology from the Far shore from the old world, highly coveted relics and ancient items of power and magic.
Major Imports
Fenthas imports most of its food and its wood since there is very little fertile land in Fenthas and there is no place for the trees to grow as most of the landscape is ice and cold rock. the builders need to import their wood to build settlements and houses for their civilization. and the people need food to eat and survive, thus the lack of food is a general problem and they must import the rest of their produce to supplement the bad harvest of Fenthas itself
Legislative Body
the coalition of guilds runs the country by discussing their guilds opinions and needs for analysis and action by the workers. the different guild leaders each convene once a week to discuss the different situations within the nation and take actions accordingly. the meetings are less formal and more out of necessity and with guild leaders meeting at bars and snuff dens in different cities.
Judicial Body
most laws are made and enforced by the Disgraced, who have a strange code of honor that they apply to their self assigned jobs as law keepers. they generally have no problems with minor crimes and petty theft but are brutal and efficient in delivering punishment when it comes to mass murder and actions that hurt the major populace of Fenthas. they cannot be referred to as a real law enforcement group as their actions are fickle and inconsistent at best.
