Blood Gauntlet

The Blood Gauntlets were an unholy weapon created by the Brotherhood of Scourged to restore magical abilities after they were stripped away during the Scouring.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The user is granted a mix of magical powers based on how the Jochuynyx used was sourced. However, as several Brotherhood of Scourged discovered, if used by a Non-Mage, the gauntlets take the life energy of the user to power them up before eventually overtaking them completely.

Manufacturing process

Jochuynyx is thrown into a cauldron with smelted iron. That compound is then used to weld the gauntlets.

History

Once made, the first gauntlets were used during a skirmish during which, while the wielder felt great pain, they were able to use magical attacks. They were deemed a success, and more were soon made. However, as they kept being used, the pain grew more and more intense until finally, one of the wielders was frozen completely over, hands first. Other users eventually met similarly gruesome fates depending on the type of magic used: Burned, electrocuted, dehydrated, poisoned. One element all the bodies shared was that they had suffered lethal amounts of internal bleeding--stains of which were found inside their gauntlets. All of those who were still alive quickly abandoned the weapons and attempted to destroy them, but failed. When the Beisha Church got wind of these schemes, they were the only ones who could properly dismantle them, all except for one that was hidden by the now long-gone Brotherhood.
