Attack on Alfayan Castle Town

A group of assassins from the kingdom of Herringnome infiltrate Alfayan Castle Town during the weekly market with concealed weapons and barrels full of neurotoxin. There are other merchants selling various juices, so the people think nothing of it. When a signal is given, neurotoxin is dumped into the castle moat and travelers are stabbed. Luckily, a knight quickly smells something off, and is able to evacuate the larger market and alert the Afayan Cavalry before too many innocent people could get hurt. It is here where smithy and salesgirl Ross Smith first meets Kalon Palanin in person. Confused, or perhaps blinded by love at first sight, she follows him inside Alfayan Castle's cellar, where they meet the Sea Serpent Leviathan, driven mad by the poison. They kill the last of the assassins, but Ross is knocked unconscious by Leviathan. King Parzifal arrives and orders his Knight Captain to take the young woman to the Alfayan Temple while he mercy-kills his beloved pet and moat guardian himself, to which Kalon reluctantly agrees.
