Knight Captain

The Knight Captain is the highest ranking in the military of the Alfayan Knights. They have magic-wielding counterparts in Arcmages, though it is entirely possible for a knight captain to be able to use magic.

Qualifications

The knight has to be supreme among their comrades and prove it with their exceptional combat skills, honor, valor, physical and mental fortitude, tactical genius, and bravery.

Requirements

They must have won in at least two battles and can best every other knight in practice.

Appointment

They are either recognized by royalty or their fellow knights and recommended before a dubbing ceremony.

Duties

Taking care of morale, seeing that those under their command are safe, upholding the image of the kingdom

Responsibilities

Lead the army, plan out battle strategies

Benefits

Status--An instant ascent into nobility, and all the money and other cool stuff that goes with it, if they were not already. However, a majority of them are already nobles owing to their greater political, military, and overall education.

Accoutrements & Equipment

They get the best and coolest-looking weapons, shields, armor, and mounts.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The title is lost upon death, great scandal, or formal resignation.

History

One tale says that one of them was able to successfully take an entire fort with just four soldiers and a horse.

Cultural Significance

Knight Captains are looked upon as role models by many, leading the charge as larger-than-life figures. House Falchion in particular is famous for producing them and is quick to silence any accusations that they got their position on nepotism alone.
