Midwinter Night

Midwinter Night is marked by services in churches and chapels. It is a time of gift giving and also a time when people grieve for those they have lost during the year. Some people leave gifts for the dead on their doorsteps over Midwinter Night.   On Midwinter Night, some of the usual rules of the universe are different. In particular, it is easier to create a planar rift between planes.
While Midwinter Night is part of the calendar, it ignores the normal lunar cycle. The moon instead goes through its twenty-eight phases over the course of twenty-eight years on Midwinter Night. No one is entirely certain how this functions.
