Kitsune

Kitsune have some foxlike characteristics, including a foxlike tail and ears. The tail can be shapeshifted away when it is convenient to do so, and all kitsune can take the form of a fox the size of a large dog. They also have keen hearing. There aren't many kitsune in Selwyn and they are mostly found in the southern forests. Some of the first kitsune were said to be colonists from Kalpher.
Many kitsune are illusionists and shapechangers, often using these abilities as performers. The best known kitsune performers are the Starlight Troupe.
Kitsune have a reputation for being easy to seduce.
Kitsune tend to grow up faster than elves, but live much longer than most other species. The Changing, as kitsune call it, comes over their kind about the point they reach two and a half centuries. They go through a spiritual change which often results in death or in transformation into a spirit fox, a sort of ancestral spirit among kitsune.
Occasionally a kitsune will come back as an Elder. Elders tend to have silver hair and their magic grows stronger.
