The Cirque de Liberty Organization in Semita | World Anvil

The Cirque de Liberty

The Cirque de Liberty, also known as the Circus of Freedom, is one of the more famous Circuses in the known world despite its few scant years in the limelight. Made up of some of the best performers from all corners of the globe in the aftermath of The Great Grudge War, The Cirque de Liberty is credited with the spreading of cultures once oppressed by halfling hegemony all through the world.    Though their headquarters lies in the Lotus Fields of Ib you will seldom find the Cirque there except when wintering there between performance seasons. They travel as often as practice with the demanding schedule that Blade Reed the Ring Master lives under given he also holds membership in The Defender's of the Realm and can often be called upon to serve as a defender against world threatening problems.    During the Dragon Ignition Crisis The Cirque de Liberty served alongside AEGIS as a drafted asset of The Defender's of the Realm and stemmed the tide of The Calamity Dragons until such time as the dragon nexus could be reignited and the Calamity Dragons finally slayed.    A splinter of The Cirque de Liberty was sent aboard The SS Odyssey to act as a cultural envoy of Semita into the galactic civilizations of The Great Expanse.

Structure

The leader of the Cirque is Blade Reed, son of the the final chief of the clan Reed. Instead of adopting the family mantle of leading the tribe Blade instead pathed his own path in the world becoming the leader of a growing group of performers and entertainers that's only goal in the world was to spear head the end of slavery, and the spread of democracy across the world.    Under Blade Reed as the Ringmaster there are the leaders of each performing group:
  1. Musicians
  2. Animal Tamers
  3. Stunt Artists
  4. Comedians
  5. Actors
By and large the activities of the Cirque are handled via majority rule vote the leaders of each sub group of the troupe only meeting with the Ringmaster when labor disputes arise or to arbitrate issues not fit for a mass vote.

    History

In the years before The Great Grudge War instead of adopting the family mantle of leading the tribe Blade Reed instead pathed his own path in the world becoming the leader of a growing group of performers and entertainers that's only goal in the world was to spear head the end of slavery, and the spread of democracy across the world.   While on his journeys Blade would hear rumor of the ancient place known as Terminus, a safe haven for run away slaves that was both everywhere and nowhere at the same time. It was in search of a route to Terminus that Blade Reed left many of his friends behind and infiltrated the halfling empire masquerading as a minotaur mercenary in service to his father. While on this expedition Blade discovered the truth of the halfling extermination camps that processed the undesirable races that they deemed only fit for slavery, but thanks to the war could not be tolerated in such large populations any longer.    While he was unable to save many from the camps Blade was able to find his way to Terminus where he met the Great Old One who governed over it: The Father of Freedom, an uncle to The Bringer of Bargains. While in Terminus, Blade Reed studied under the the Conductors, the lead agents of Terminus's ongoing campaign to free all slaves.    It was after becoming a conductor himself, and the end of the war that Blade Reed realized the true goal of Terminus: the end of all tyranny, everywhere. With that in mind the Father of Freedom took his leave of Semita and went off to The Great Expanse, leaving Blade Reed to reorganize Terminus into whatever terrestrial organization it could now transition into given slavery on Semita had ended.    In the spring of 24929 Blade elected to organized Terminus into the Cirque de Freedom a circus dedicated to spreading the ideas of freedom all over the world, and maybe some day in the future, to worlds beyond Semita' star and skies.
