Bear's Blade

The representative animal of the monarch of Yzel is the bear and their family motto is "for my friends a shield, for my enemies a claw." Due to this, bears are incredibly important to the family. As a symbol of the protection they offer allies and aggression shown toward enemies, upon his ascension, Luan Sranten commissioned a silver plated bear claw be made. A 10cm claw was collected from a large grizzly bear. This was then fitted with a hilt and made into a short blade. The silver etched into it shows the family motto along with several other designs. The name Bear's Blade (Fpritaahärbrad Koowsab) was given to the dagger. While the weapon cannot do much damage in combat, it is used a symbol by the royal family.    When Luan died, his son, Kaelo Sranten I, took possession of the dagger. Rather than carry it as his father had, he instead placed it into the Tekel temple at the center of Leowit, at the foot of the statue of Padka, the chief god. This was done to show the devotion of the royal family to the gods and to connect them to the divine. While there is no official link, the Sranten family tends to invoke the gods in order to justify their rule as those who triumphed over corruption.    Kaelo Sranten II decided to keep the dagger in place. He only takes it out during particularly formal occasions.
