Rising Koi Saga: Chapter 19 Report

General Summary

With a case selected Daiono and the Akamori cousins decide that seeking out guidance from the reclusive Akamori Homestead was their wisest course of action while their Passes were still fresh. Xiyan, fearing the idea of another bath decided to slip away. After their arrival, the three men described the situation and their theories of what was going on in Silverport. At first it appeared their Grandfather, Natsu, had no interest in the ongoings within the city… that was until they told him about what happened to his friend Rineki and how devastated he had been by the loss of life in the arson attack by the Brides of Akkoro. When they had his attention, he told them a little about his time during the Akatsuki Rebellion and some of his impressions of the War Veterans that resided in the city. He spoke of Rinkei’s dour depression of the suffering their consequences afflicted, of the rumors of Occutlisim that the smuggler Kuromizu Kaito had an interest in, and of the shame of Katsuo Ken’s betrayal of the Shuwa clan that brought an end to the conflict.   With a lot to think about the three men decided to see Yengador’s childhood friend, Suki, before retiring for the night to prepare for their early morning trek back to Silverport. They were vague on the details but described the tense situation back in the city. It was almost enough to quench her adventurous spirit, but that was until Yengandor told her that he may die there. This did not sit well with Suki, she decided to join the party in the morning to volunteer as a new recruit for the Silverguard.   After reluctantly dropping her off, with concerns for her wellbeing weighing on the party, the party continued on their business– starting with questioning the family of Okaji. With some generous donations to the struggling family, they were able to get his sister Nabe to open up about the strange behaviors he exhibited since the death of their father… his apparent drinking and gambling habits, the rougher crowd he started to hang out with, and how rarely he was home. The party was even able to convince the family to let the Akamori cousins take a look in the room where they found a few items of note in the messy room. They found a unique liquor jug in the shape of a chubby monk, a dagger hidden away that was designed to be easily concealable, and 7 strange wooden tiles that had numbers on them (1,1,1,1,1,5,10). Outside, their big Berserker friend had to play nice with an oblivious child who was unaware that his brother was dead.   After the investigation was concluded, the party noticed they were being watched and decided to retreat to Hana’s Teahouse where they could talk about their findings and get some insight from the Information Broker herself. After paying her fee, though still heavily discounted for the party, she inspected the items and gave what insights she could. The Tiles were gambling tokens for the Kuromizu’s casino called The Lucky Tanuki. She confiscated the dagger to look into finding the maker. And mentioned that the unique jug “was a bit on the nose”, as she recognized it as being branded from The Sea Monk bar– their next location. Fearing a fight coming, the three men decided to wait for their wild healer before they pursued their final lead in their investigation…
