The Eclipse Rite

The Eclipse Rite is a secretive ceremony marking the transition of a Night Lord. It begins under the veil of darkness and conducted within the Cavern of Shadows on the commencing of the next full Eclipse, signifying the eclipsing of a new authority.
The retiring Night Lord extinguishes their respective crystal (embedded in the signet ring), symbolizing the relinquishment of their authority and soul. The Night Lord then removes and places their signet ring in the center of the table. The signet ring is inscribed with their specific Shadow Symbol indicating their rank and duties within the Syndicate.
A new Night Lord takes the ring and kneels in front of The Ebony Serpent presenting the ring in open hands. The Ebony Serpent steps forward and reignites the crystal with a new arcane code signifying the continuation of the Syndicate's power and unity despite the change in leadership.
The new Night Lord swears an outh with both hands on the Shadowscript Codex, to uphold the principles of the Syndicate, to remain loyal to The Ebony Serpent, and to masterfully perform the duties of their position.
Upon the conclusion of the oath, the other Night Lords flash their personal cystals symbolizing their acceptance and recognition of the new Night Lord.
The ceremony concludes with each member hammering a unique pattern into a new Shadow Lance enchanting it with each of their unique powers, the new Night Lord hammering his pattern last which inscribes the feat of strength he accomplished to be worthy of promotion.
