Desert Gnome Scuttle Bus

The gnomes living in the deserts of (insert name) have learned to become one with the deserts and create machines that work with the environment instead of opposing it. The scuttle bus is a common basic vehicle but at the same time very complicated.   The bus has legs instead of wheels to better traverse the uneven sandy terrain, the reason for the name is that as the vehicle is moving the legs appear to scuttle. The bus can have multiple carraiges and when chained together appear trainlike, as if it were a centipede. Each individual bus has a wheel inside that rotates lifting each of the legs at different timings. The wheel has three modes of power: it can be powered by strong winds using a wind vane like device, or by a steam engine (optional upgrade), or manually powered by pedals. The wheel that is operating the vehicle is rather heavy so that in scenarios such as going down hill it can retain much of its power.   The vehicle has a metal frame with wooden floors, a metal drinking water tank, fold out fabric awnings on both sides, and sizeable storage compartments on the underside. The optional upgrades are the steam engine which comes with a flat-top cooking surface, a mounted ballista turret (which has an auto-cycling feature when combined with the steam engine), inflatable base with fin attachments for the legs for aquatic travel, and finally a pocket dimension storage for merchants or nomadic peoples.   In the deserts of (insert name) it is very common to see small trains of these buses travelling about with the more nomadic gnomes, but in many other parts of the world they are a rarity as they don't exactly travel all that well on mountainous or rough terrain. And even though it is made for gnomes they do sell larger models for other races at a very lucrative rate.
