A small town near the base of the
Redwind Mountains which make up the northern border of
Shudan. The town developed around a prominent hot spring in the area, which was referred to by the locals as
Onsen no San (
Hot Spring of the Mountain in
Shudani). Those who arrived from the
Jade Empire pronounced it closer to
Sanosan, which they combined with
wenquan (the
Liquon word for hot spring) to form
Sanosan Wenquan in reference to the hot spring itself. As the town grew around it, they reffered to it as
Anosanwenquan, then
Sanwenquan, and eventually
Sanwen.
The town is not as popular as other tourist destinations in
Hiro-On, mostly due to the close proximity to the Redwind, but it still houses nearly 600 residents.
Government
Nionsen is part of the
Northern Province and
Hiro-On, both of which are largely overseen by the
Izumi Family. The current
Regent of Sanwen is
Chitose Izumi.
Military
The
Peace Force is the name of the larger police group throughout Hiro-On, and there is a local branch in Sanwen. The chief of this branch, like the chiefs of all branches, is appointed by the Izumi family. They don't report to the Izumis directly, but they are funded by the Izumis and the chief can be replaced if the Peace Force doesn't act in accordance with the Izumi family's wishes.
The
Redwind Wardens specialize in patrolling the Redwind Mountains, all the way from origin of the
Nigawa to the western edge of
The Fade. They are especially concentrated near Sanwen and their outpost
Hirotani to the north west.
