Session 03 Report

General Summary

In this session, the following occurred:

• after following the path in the woods for a ways, the party came across an orc camp where they found several orcish bandits and a young elvish acolyte engaged in battle with more corrupted plants
• after defeating all foes, the party also found many of Farmer Muckborn's stolen crops, as well as evidence that these bandits had been purposefully poisoning them, yet struggling to control them. They also found correspondence indicating the orcish bandits had been hired by another, unknown group
• upon further reading, Gaerlan recognized the name written on some of the correspondence: Captain Durzub and knew him as captain of the ship, The Regent, confirming their status as mercenary company
• further down the path, the party came across a river and learned it was polluted by the same foul magic that had corrupted the plants
• following the river, the party came to a cavern camp, occupied by more bandits and filled with poison magic
• in the cavern, the party chanced to overhear an argument between Captain Durzub and a green dragonborn wizard
• the two seemed to be arguing about a "little lord" - the orc claiming his men had been injured, the dragonborn calling those same injuries a blessing
• after breaking down the door, the party defeated both the captain and the wizard, as well as another young dragonborn apprentice who had been hiding
--by interrogating the young dragonborn, they learned the "little lord" was a green dragon wyrmling, and the dragonborn gathered here were serving it by helping it poison the water and farmland, though he did not reveal the reason. He expressed great confusion as to why Gaerlan - a dragonborn himself - would fight against "The Master"
• after executing the apprentice, a quick search of the cavern found more corrupted plants, a few supplies, and an alchemical table bearing poison protection potions.
• they readied themselves to fight the dragon in the next room...
