Queen Vagaere - of Eserethian kingdom - found her new husband Alfred of Wiesdale union to be cheating on her through an attractive royal servant. By a magic artifact, her rage accidentally turned her into a serpent monster that destroyed the capital, and sent loyal territories into dispute with Wiesdale leaders.

Alfred of Wiesdale was to unite the kingdoms of Wiesdale and Esereth under an alliance through Queen Vagaere. She was a kind woman, but only in meeting her did he find her plain. Despite this, the marriage continued, and eventually he met a servant he found more attractive. Only a month into the union, Vagaere knew something was wrong. She recuited the magic necessary to hold an artifact that would grant her purity to show on the outside, only to then find her beloved cheating on her through a servant. The rage and magic combined to turn her into a venomous monster, who quickly killed much of the servants and other royalty.   Her people (that survived) fled, and reduced the capital to little more than nothing but a locked legend to not venture into. Its various regional settlements would undergo conflicts between unsupported anarchy, Wiesdale conquest, or sovereign pride to rally against Wiesdale control (with places like Wynbuldir almost planning a future where they pick up rulership).
