As the atmosphere became more and more livable, settlements around the planet began to dismantle their protective domes in favor of an open air living. With this new found freedom, many settlements began to spread outwards beyond their walls and soon true cities began to develop.
The majority of Ruzdal-5's settlements experiences a population and resource boom as facilities and institutions become more established. Automation is in an all time high and citizens lavish in luxury and excess. New technological marvels are being discovered and invented one after the other. Colonists around the world are beginning look up into the sky and to dream of returning to the cosmos like their ancestors before them.
Despite this boom of prosperity, signs that things are declining are becoming more and more apparent. Most didn't worry about it as they believe that this is a normal occurrence and things are just settling down. Reports of frequent power outages and extreme fuel prices are becoming common.
It was a creeping menace, the general public didn't see it coming, apart from some cynical analysts and doomsayers, until it was too late. Too busy focused with their day to day lives, they did not noticed the coming disaster that is unfolding before them. On that year cities from all across the planet loses its last ounces of electricity and fuel. Researches around the world desperately looked for solutions but unfortunately, due to their over reliance on high end technology, their last hopes for salvation were dashed when the lights went out.
With no more fuel powering civilization, society experiences a sudden shock. Cities and settlements began to splinter apart as people fend for themselves, doing whatever they can in a desperate act to return to the good old days. People began hoarding fuel and tech to the extent that people will steal, loot and raid from each other. Eventually those too ran out energy, leaving behind useless slabs of metal and polymer.
With no power, the great atmospheric processing plants soon followed the fate of the settlements. With no equipment left running to maintain system stability for the most sensitive of operations inside some of the plants, the plants suffer catastrophic damage in internal systems. Some were so severe that only foundations and rubble were left behind. In other cases, tech raiders even stormed some of the plants to loot them. Security forces were eventually overwhelmed by hordes of mad men. Some of the plants were soon converted into ramshackled fortresses where raiders and warlords would stage their campaign of savagery and hedonism on nearby settlements.
Civilization gradually regressed. Barbarism and savagery were a common sight. What once were great cities are now battlegrounds for warring clans and tribes. Technology, with no fuel, are nothing more but scrap metal and are put to use as makeshift building material and improved armor and weapons for warriors and adventurers. What were once mighty gauss rifles are now jury rigged into makeshift crossbows and clubs, hovercars are converted into beast drawn carriages and bountiful malls and supermarkets degraded into overcrowded and foul smelling marketplaces. The outer walls of the domes have been put to use once more as reinforced walls for castle towns and fortresses.
During this time period, ancient eyewitness records of what is often described in most accounts as a "Burning sword of a great giant piercing the sky from the heavens." or a "Fire Serpent roaring in hatred for our sins." began to appear. Also during this time, worship of the sky experienced a noticeable influx. Today, it's now widely known that this is in fact another arc-class colony ship which has crash landed on the far reaches of the planet in the eastern desert lands.
Various sightings of "golden metal men" have been spotted near the eastern fringes. Locals now avoid the desert in fear of these supposed beings. Several relic hunters have attempted to venture forth to the desert but none have returned.
Myths and legends of a heroic figure began appearing during this time period with the earliest known account originating from the fringes of what is now modern Halendiheim.
