Teresa Capuleti

## **History**

Teresa Capuleti
Teresa Capuleti

Teresa Capuleti was born and raised in the poorest neighborhood of the city of Laguna, the capital of the Repubblica del Leone. Her parents, a fisherman and a washerwoman, lived in a small house on stilts in one of the secondary canals. Her childhood was marked by hunger and poverty, but also by the intelligence and determination of a girl who did not accept the life that had been imposed on her. The events of this period of her life, however, are shrouded in mystery: at the age of 16, Teresa disappeared from the city.

For almost a decade, nothing was heard of her. Some whisper that she was sold to a slave trader, others that she found refuge in distant lands. When Teresa reappeared in Laguna, ten years later, she was no longer a commoner: she was an elegant, charming woman with unusual wealth. Within months, she acquired a chain of **fashion ateliers** and **perfumery shops**, quickly establishing a monopoly on the production of perfumes and luxury clothing. Her creations soon became indispensable to the city's wealthy merchants and nobles.

Her wealth, however, was shrouded in suspicion. Some insinuated that it came from the **high-class lovers** who protected her; others suggested ties to organized crime. However, no one could prove it. Her competitors, one after another, abandoned the market or fell victim to strange accidents, thus consolidating Teresa's dominance.

Her rise culminated seven years ago, when she met Enrico Dandolo, at the time a wealthy merchant and promising official of the Republic of Leone. The two were married after only three months, in a lavish ceremony that officially established her among the elite of the Republic, with a wedding procession that winds through the canals of the city of Laguna; the ceremony cost well over a million Shillings and marked the birth of one of the 30 new families that sit on the Great Council.

Thanks to Teresa's machinations, Enrico quickly climbed the ladder of power, becoming first **Monetario** and then **Prince of the Sea**, the highest political office in the Republic. Teresa, meanwhile, governs quietly from the shadows, organizing opulent parties in their villa on the **Canale Maggiore**, but also manipulating political events with extraordinary skill.

## **Character and Personality**

Teresa Capuleti is a charming and magnetic woman, but beneath her refined surface lies a cruel and calculating nature. Her character is a mixture of:

  • Cunning: Teresa can read people with surgical precision. She understands their desires, fears and weaknesses, which she uses to her advantage to manipulate them.
  • Ruthless Ambition: She does not hesitate to sacrifice anyone to achieve her goals. For Teresa, people are tools, and once their usefulness is exhausted, they are eliminated without regret.
  • Charm and Duplicity: Teresa knows how to present herself as a devoted wife and a perfect hostess. Her parties are legendary, and many consider her one of the most influential women in the Republic.

However, behind her seductive smile hides a cold and calculating mind, capable of planning intricate and lethal plots.

## **Relationships and Conflicts**

### **With Enrico Dandolo**

Officially, Teresa is the devoted wife of the **Prince of the Sea**, supporting her husband in every public occasion. But the truth is very different: Teresa sees Enrico as a tool to consolidate her power. Despite being the mastermind behind his rise, Teresa sees him as weak and useless outside of his political abilities. When Enrico is no longer useful, Teresa will not hesitate to rid herself of him.

### **With Ezio Furlan**

Ezio Furlan, Commander of Sea Prince Guards, has been Teresa's secret lover for years. Their relationship is passionate, but also dangerous: Teresa manipulates Ezio with promises of love and power, using her skills to gain confidential information and protection. Ezio, however, is also a pawn in Teresa's game.

### **With the Nobles of the Republic**

Teresa maintains complex relationships with the merchants and nobles of the Republic. On the one hand, many fear and respect her; on the other, she is the object of envy and gossip. However, no one dares to challenge her openly; those who have in the past have paid with ruin or their lives.
