Vital Focus

A Vital Focus, or just focus, is required to manipulate and utilize a user's Vital Essence in a meaningful and impactful way. It allows the user to concentrate and focus their Vital Essence more directly and control it more easily. Only one focus can be created and used. Technically more can be used, although there is no actual benefit from this aside from having two weapons potentially.
A focus must be created by the user by embuing their Vital Essence within an object that once was a living organism, such as a piece of wood or leather. Most create a focus that is a weapon since in order to use the focus, a user must hold it in their hand. A user can also use their ability enhancement to empower their focus as well, as long as it is being held or touched by their hand, which is why most use weapons as their focus. This can technically be accomplished even if the focus is leather armor for example, although the armor would likely not be worn as those who utilize their Vital Essence wear clothing that is generally cloth to allow the unstable energy that is expelled from the use of Vital Essence to more easily be dissipated and return to the Realm of Elan Vitale.
When Voyants use a focus, they use it to create the motions that are required in order to create magic and cast magic. Although, as long as one hand is holding the focus, using the focus in this manner is technically not required and the other hand can be used for this. Although, some spells and magic require both hands used in order to be cast.
Those who are Born of Vitale, including the Mythical Kixno, do not require the use of a Vital Focus in order to use their magic and/or abilities. A Prime Vitale does still require the use of a focus though, even if they are using their unique ability, or at least, if they want to use that ability at its full effectiveness, they will need to use their Vital Focus.
