Personal history

Rhysande only knew two of her mothers, Thalaya and Nerikhal.
The mother who had carried her, Askaar, had been chased away with a ruse-- a provoked rage, the broken crib, blood on her hands. Believing she had killed her daughter, Askaar fled, unable to face what she had done. But Rhysande had not died.
Instead, she simply grew in the grasp of mothers who held their kingdom with thorn and claw.
Rhysande grew with a blade in one claw and a shield in the other. Her mothers instilled in her a sense of deep, brutal loyalty: be ready to die for the kingdom, be ready to maul and kill for the kingdom. Mother Dearest knows what is best. And so Rhysande became a horrific extension of their power. The red-flecked wolf's arrival was never a good sign.

Gender Identity

Rhysande has not thought much of her gender. She feels very ambivalent towards what she is, but does not feel as if "woman" describes her well at all. She knows on some level that she isn't like the others she knows, but Rhysande doesn't know how to begin thinking this over. 
Dysphoria strikes from time to time, and Rhysande has at least figured out that binding her chest abated some of that. If she ever encounters nonbinary or other gendered individuals, she... may figure some things out.
