Dwarf
Dwarves are a subterranean race with a pension for crafting stone and metal. Short but sturdy, these creatures are known to be some of the best smiths, ale makers, and builders on Scandagliare.

Social Structure
Dwarven society operates around clans. A clan is a brotherhood-family hybrid that bases itself on the clan's service. A clan name acts as a brand as well as a title. Clans form a few different ways. The 1st is Family, the 2nd is from tradesmanship, and the 3rd is to be “Honored” into the clan. There have been occurrences of o'doule and even some homunculi being inducted into a clan through their service to a clan head. They are treated just the same as any other member of the clan to the point of sometimes even being referred to as a fellow dwarf.

Culture and Cultural Heritage
Dwarven civilization is mainly split between the Mountains of North Knopia, The Tundra of Brill, and the Mountains of Dorin in Pardisio.
Those who live in higher altitudes are known as Frost Dwarves. Contradictory to their name, their blood runs warm due to adaptation to the colder climates.
Krogsmen tend to reside in active chambers, using the fires to build fantastic foundries.
Frosgard live in the Tundra of Brill, the higher parts of Fordgiar , and the Glaciers of Yeti’s Pass.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals
Braiding: Dwarven braiding is a tradition passed down to nearly every dwarf. Braiding and adorning their hair with ornamentation and beads is done to signify events that have occurred in a dwarf's life. One with the knowledge to do so may read a dwarf's life by simply looking at their braids. This tradition is a means to boast, to show honesty, and to remind themselves of their past among other things.
One can also tell who belongs to what clan based on their braids. How a dwarf braids their beard is iconic amongst their clansmen.
Crafting: Dwarves are obsessive about their craft and their mines. Tradition is essential to the dwarven lifestyle. This does not stop dwarves from leaving their caves to caravan trade goods or to gather a treasure arguably more valuable than gemstone: Ale. Aklas Root, Bitter smelt, and Vinleg ferns are among the few roots and berries that Dwarves covet from the mountains. Dwarves are very passionate and serious about their ales, arguably more so than gemswork. Spilling someone's stout is illegal in many Dwarven cities. Some bands have been blanketed on this rule. Garthsbeard brew and Olkosk Ale are so highly coveted that it is illegal to even transport them out of their home city. Arcadian Deathstout is another renowned ale, as is known for nullifying any detection of poison or tampering.
A Dwarf can be told by their beard before their bannerSome dwarves recently have taken on non-traditional ideologies when it comes to braiding. Particularly with adventurers, mercenaries, and those who have left their clans, some dwarves will completely shave their beards, thereby symbolically erasing their past. This is more commonly seen as a fashionable rebellion for dwarven women in non-dwarven cities.

History
Dwarves traditionally stayed neutral or isolated during most of history, as they tend to think of their way of life as superior to all other civilizations. The dwarves have perhaps one of the most structured kingdoms. Dwarven kingdoms often act as merely a supplier in the wars of the surface, choosing to remain neutral in most conflicts, and most of the world's profit has fallen into the hands of the dwarves.
That is not to say that combat does not occur in the dwarven kingdoms. Their battles come from those who dwell underneath. The Doukutsu has become an enemy of dwarvenkind throughout history, battling grey orc, elkage, and goblinoids alike to ensure their borders.
Most dwarven structures still stand from the second age with only minute changes over the passage of time.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Dwarves need to take a longer time than most to be friends with or trust someone. It sometimes takes an entire lifetime to befriend a dwarf, which often results in the dwarf befriending the family after one passes.
Dwarven relationships depend heavily on the clan they are part of and any alliances (or grudges) between clans or even other races affect all members of their clan. For example, a dwarven smithing clansman will get along more with a fae smith than a fae druid. The dwarves tend to have an affable relationship with mechans and o'doule with their penchant for innovation and creation while still being rooted in culture and tradition. Homunculi can come and go, though their shorter lifespan can often get in the way of a solid relationship. Dwarves' relationships with totookichtin and orcs sway more negatively but they will tolerate encounters strictly for business.
A dwarf isn’t happy unless he’s bitter, that's whay my pa always said.
