Fae-Touched
The Fae-Touched live Underhill in the hills of gold, and eat of those strange fruits which ordinary mortals dare not touch. Do not follow what they eat, for the fruit the Fae grow provides no nourishment to mortals, and may warp you into a Fae-Touched if you have skills they desire, or age you beyond your years if you do not.
Naming Traditions
Family names
Often relate to the fae that stole them, usually contain the -uin or -oila suffix (‘s treasure or ‘s gift, respectively)
Culture
Art & Architecture
Fae-Touched can create art beyond that of standard mortals; their songs are sweeter, their paintings more evocative, their dances more graceful. As such, art is their main export, although the fae that they are beholden to claim most of not all of their art. But any pieces or performances that the fae do not monopolize are considered to be near-priceless works, and are widely sought after.
Common Customs, traditions and rituals
Fae-Touched tend to take on the habits of the fae, and the longer they have stayed Underhill the more deeply embedded they are in the fae customs. Those who stay Underhill for too long may loose all ability to re-acclimate to regular mortal customs.
Coming of Age Rites
The Fae-Touched are always adults; any children stolen by the fae become changelings, and grow into fully fledged fae in their own right (for the fae are a species that reproduces by corruption)
Funerary and Memorial customs
Most Fae-Touched will be mourned by their original friends and family while they are still alive, and will not be mourned at all by their fae, save for in a kind of wistful remembrance.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Ethereal and timeless, like you can’t tell if they are 20 or 30 or 40, but they are clearly in their prime
Courtship Ideals
Most Fae-Touched, particularly the Treasures, are romantically entangled with their fae, and thus not available to be courted. If you do find a Fae-Touched who is open to courtship, they tend to prefer stability, politeness, and someone who will provide for their every need.
