S31. Talos Thwarted Report

General Summary

They camped the night at the Circle in the shelter of one of the caves. In the morning, they saw the dragon to the sound and investigated, finding that he had attacked the Manse, destroying all the remaining pumpkins and ransacking the building before flying off. The party arrived at the site around noon, and after trying to piece together what happened there, they decided to head back toward Falcon's.
Enroute they met up with Xanth again who told them a larger orc band led by one of the spellcasters, had attacked Falcon's and brought it to ruin. Luckily the hunter and his two servants escaped on horseback before coming to harm themselves. He is pretty sure they went to Phandalin.
Xanth also reported no sign of any life at the Logger's Camp, and likewise no sign of death. No bodies. Nothing. Ghost camp.
He was asked to try to track the band and see if he could locate where they had gone.
Then the party went back to Butterskull Ranch and spend the night, collected their gold bell, and then headed back toward Phandalin themselves. The next night as they camped somewhere along the Triboar Trail north of the goldmine, they were attacking the night be shifting, displacing creatures. They apparently had reservations for dinner: 3, plus a highchair.
Kanenas got nailed pretty early in the fight with a critical blow from a tentacle, but once again getting in touch with his inner sociopathic cloud rune, he laid waste to the cute little baby kitten that Ozus was befriending. At least it wasn't the drake, right?
With some back and forth, it was finally time for the Monk to miss several attacks, which frustrated him greatly. Torgan only hit about half the time with critical hits, and maybe just missed once the whole fights. He was probably frustrated too.
With the monstrosities defeated the party prepared to reset their long rest for the rest of the night and into the morning.
