Five hundred years of war is frought with villification and magic both cosmic and eldritch. The stories of each side of the other become larger than life... as Stories do.

Over the five hundred years following the Hobgoblin Betrayal, the war escalates and escalates. A lifetime of Giants and dozens of lifetimes of most of the denizens of Evandyr pass, while myths of fables of the Betrayal escalate, becoming larger than life until the Giants see the Evandyrians as horrific demons, assassins, murderers, and crazed monsters. Meanwhile the Empire sees the Giants as mindless beasts that hoard magical artifacts, and felling them proves your worth to the God-King, and earns you a place of permenance of his creation.   It is not constant war, and the fight goes back and forth to nearly full annihilation on either side twice. Jharia is said to perish in these battles, but Avernus is immortal. He does, however, mourn greatly.
